LIBERTY N.C. (NC DOT)– Changes are in the works for an intersection along U.S. 421 as part of the roadway improvements for the Greensboro-Randolph Megasite project. Daily lane closures will be in place on U.S. 421 near Julian Airport Road through mid-June. The closures will enable contract crews to safely install acceleration and deceleration lanes on U.S. 421. Crews Set To Begin Blasting This Week At Greensboro-Randolph Megasite

Crews mobilize for preparation work for the Greensboro-Randolph Megasite. (NC DOT) LIBERTY N.C. – Crews are set to begin blasting as early as this week as part of construction at the Greensboro-Randolph Megasite. In a press release the NC DOT says blasting operations will start as early as this week and continue over the next several months as crews work on the initial grading necessary to construct the manufacturing plant. Officials say blasting operations will take place during daytime hours only, and when weather permits. Ames Construction of Burnsville, Minnesota, was awarded a $17.8 million contract in January to conduct the initial site preparation. (ACME NEWS)- Toyota will be bringing 1,750 jobs to the area after announcing today that they will be building a battery manufacturing plant at the Greensboro-Randolph Megasite in Randolph County. The car manufacture said today they will invest 1.29 billion dollars in building the facility which once constructed will begin producing batteries for Toyota’s hybrid electric vehicles starting as soon as 2025. "Toyota could have chosen anywhere in the United States for this first battery plant and they chose us," said Gov Cooper (D-N.C.). Reynolds, in his speech said that the companies investment at the mega-site is the largest private capital investment in North Carolina history. Reynolds also hinted about a “Phase II...
