Sheriff’s Office Seizes Firearm from Student at ERHS

Eastern Randolph High School (Archive Photo / Acme News) RAMSEUR N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office says they are investigating after a firearm was seized from a student at Eastern Randolph High School this morning. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, on the morning of February 16th, 2024, it was reported to Eastern Randolph High School’s School Resource Officer that a juvenile student was on campus with a firearm on their person. The School Resource Officer located the juvenile and searched the juvenile locating a firearm, which was secured without incident and was determined to be unloaded. Search Warrant at Asheboro Apartment Finds Drugs & Gun, Two Arrested

According to a police report on February 15th, 2023, officers with the department's VICE & Narcotics unit and the Special Enforcment Team conducted a search warrant for apartment 205 at the Sunset Place Apartments. Police say they seized 13.1 grams of cocaine and an MP-25 handgun during the search. Man with Multiple Warrants Rams Deputy’s Vehicle During Chase

ASHEBORO N.C. - A wanted man is facing multiple charges after authorities say while attempting to flee from deputies the suspect rammed a patrol car before almost crashing into a home earlier this week. According to a press release, on December 26th, 2022, Deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office were searching the Ramseur/Liberty areas for Jimmy Ray Pearson, who had multiple outstanding warrants. A deputy observed Pearson's vehicle traveling north on Ramseur Julian Rd. Additional deputies responded and a traffic stop was initiated but Pearson refused to stop and continued on Colonial Trading Path. Woman Arrested After Pulling Gun on Deputies During Welfare Check

ASHEBORO N.C. - A local woman is facing several charges after the Sheriff's Office says she pulled a gun on deputies attempting to perform a welfare check at the home last week. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on November 3rd, 2022, deputies responded to Low Bridge Rd., in Liberty, to conduct a welfare check of children following a domestic dispute. The Sheriff's Office says when deputies arrived a female, whom they identified as Melisa Ann Herriott, opened the front door of the residence, and simultaneously pointed a handgun directly at one of the deputies. Missing Juvenile With Gun Arrested In Asheboro After Running From Police

ASHEBORO N.C. - Earlier this week officers with the Asheboro Police Department responding to a call about an armed person ended up chasing a juvenile who was reported missing who was carrying a gun. On July 24th 2022, officer were dispatched to Martin Luther King Jr Dr in Asheboro after 911 received a call about an armed juvenile suspect in the area. DUI Driver Caught Speeding With Drugs and Gun in Car, Arrested

ASHEBORO N.C. - A driver who sped past a police officer last weekend was arrested after being pulled over for speeding once officers realized the driver was intoxicated, with drugs and a gun in the car. On Saturday July 23rd 2022, a patrol officer with the Asheboro Police Department was about to turn onto North Fayetteville Street when they saw a dark in color passenger car drive past them at a high rate of speed. According to a police report, once the officer caught up to the vehicle they matched their speed with the suspect vehicle they estimated the suspect vehicle to be traveling at 86 mph, almost double the posted speed limit of 45mph. Search Warrant on Asheboro Home Finds Drugs & Gun, 4 People Charged

ASHEBORO N.C. - Four people have been charged after the Asheboro Police Departments Vice Narcotics unit conducted a search warrant on a home on N Elm St last month. Sometime in early January, Detectives with the Asheboro Vice/Narcotics unit say there were able to make a controlled purchase of crack cocaine using a confidential informant at a home on N. Elm St. Using evidence from that purchase police were able to obtain a search warrant for the home on Jan 13th 2022. On January 14th 2022, Detectives with the Asheboro Vice/Narcotics and Special Enforcement Team, executed that search warrant. K9 Locates Wanted Suspect In Seagrove

ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and the Moore County Sheriff's Office used a K9 to locate and arrest a wanted suspect in Seagrove last week. On February 2nd, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division Detectives and Criminal Interdiction Team responded to Little Brook Rd. in Seagrove after receiving a request to assist the Moore County Sheriff's Office in locating Corey Tyler Hussey. Hussey was wanted on several outstanding warrants by both agencies, which had been working together on several cases involving Hussey who was accused of committing larcenies in both counties. Unconscious Man Found Behind Wheel With Gun Facing Charges

ASHEBORO NC - A man is facing charges after police say they found him passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle with a gun in his lap. According to information posted by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, on April 12, 2021, the deputies responded to assist troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in reference to a male driver who was passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in the area of US HWY 311 in Sophia.When officers arrived they say the found the man passed out behind the wheel with a firearm in his lap. Officers say they approached and shook the vehicle in an attempt to wake the driver but he still appeared to be unconscious.
