On October 11th, 2022, just after 10:30 am, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to a call about a fight in progress at the intersection of East Pritchard St and Farr St. According to a police report from the incident, when officers arrived, a male stepped out of a vehicle, laid on the ground and put his hands behind his head before confessing to ramming the other vehicle and assaulting both the occupants with a knife. ASHEBORO NC - The N.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has finalized the autopsy report for a four-month-old killed in Randolph County back in November of 2019. On November 9th, 2019 the Guil-Rand Fire Department, Randolph County EMS, and Archdale officers responded to a home in Archdale where they found four-month-old Nevaeh Faith Johnson unresponsive on a mattress. Nevaeh was transported to High Point Regional and then was transferred to Brenner Children’s Hospital where she was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit. Nevaeh would later be pronounced dead on November 12th, 2019. An autopsy was conducted on Nov. 14th, 2019. ASHEBORO NC - A murder suspect is in custody leading police on a high-speed chase through Randolph County overnight. According to a press release by the Asheboro Police Department, on Sunday, March 25, 2021, at 2:09 AM, officers were dispatched to 340 Brookside Drive in Asheboro for a call about an unknown medical situation. When officers arrived they discovered 55-year-old Sherrie Shaw deceased in the residence. Investigators with Asheboro Police Dept began a homicide investigation.  Relatively quickly Investigators were able to determine a possible suspect and vehicle. ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - A second and likely related shooting in Asheboro left one dead Monday night. According to a press release by the Asheboro Police Department, on Monday, March 22nd at 9:21 PM, officers responded to the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Dr and Loach St in reference to a reported gunshot victim. Officials at the police department say the responding officers found a male subject who had been shot on the ground. Paramedics later declared the victim deceased at the scene. Detectives are on scene and investigating at this time. In a statement, Chief Mark Lineberry said that so far they believe this is a retaliatory incident to the previous shooting that occurred at the C Store in Asheboro on Sunday night. Photo from Moore County GIS ASHEBORO NC - After a homicide over the weekend in Asheboro, two people are in jail and authorities are searching for a body in a quarry in Moore county. According to a press release by the Asheboro Police Department, on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at 2:13 AM, Asheboro Police Officers responded to 408 E. Salisbury Street for a subject who had been shot. Officers on scene learned that the crime scene was located at 612 Farr Street in Asheboro. Evidence located at the crime scene lead investigators to believe a violent crime had occurred at the location and began to treat the case as a homicide.
