Temporary Traffic Signal Coming to Highway Intersection Near Megasite

JULIAN N.C. - The N.C. Department of Transportation will be installing a temporary traffic light on the southbound exit ramp for U.S. 421 at Hwy 62 in the coming weeks to help relieve traffic from the Megasite. In the coming days crews working for N.C. DOT will install a temporary traffic signal at the U.S. 421 Southbound exit ramp with N.C. 62. On Nov. 20th, the new signal will be activated to help mitigate traffic congestion associated with construction at the Greensboro Randolph Megasite. The signal will remain in place until the new interchange at U.S. 421 and Julian Airport Road is completed in August of next year. Motorists are advised to stay alert when approaching the new traffic pattern.

NWS Warns of Freezing Conditions in Randolph County for Tuesday Night

ASHEBORO N.C. - The National Weather Service Office in Raleigh has issued a Freeze Watch for Randolph County for Late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with temperatures expected to dip into the low 30's. According to forecasters at the National Weather Service Office in Raleigh, a cold front will move through the region tonight, followed by light rain from an upper disturbance overnight through Tuesday evening. High pressure will then build into the area behind the cold front, bringing the coldest air so far this season. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 possible in Randolph and surrounding counties late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. ...

New road patterns at Browns Meadow Road and US HWY 421 now has a median taken away the cross over to the mega site at the Toyota Mega site in Liberty, NC on July 18, 2022. Department of Transportation will improve traffic flow and safety by removing a center crossover intersection on U.S. 421 in Randolph County next month. An NCDOT contractor will close the left-turn movements from Shiloh Road/Colonial Trading Path to U.S. 421 on March 20 to reduce the possibility of t-bone and angle crashes at this location. A Pickup Truck belonging to the Julian Fire & Rescue was totaled after a driver struck the vehicle while at the scene of an accident on 421 (via Facebook) ASHEBORO N.C. - Julian Fire & Rescue's Chief was taken to the hospital after a driver struck the department's pickup truck that was on scene of a previous accident on US 421 last Friday. At 9:41 am, on Friday, December 23rd, 2022, emergency crews responded to the report of a crash that occurred on US 421 near NC 62 in Guilford County. ASHEBORO N.C. - Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Raleigh have issued a hazardous weather outlook warning of possible severe thunderstorms, strong winds, and localized flooding for Wednesday. Almost all of central North Carolina including the Triad was placed under a level 2 "slight risk" by the Storm Prediction Center. Two Arrested & 72g Of Meth Found After Chase & Manhunt

ASHEBORO NC - Police say they located 72 grams of meth after a vehicle chase and manhunt between Climax and Julian last month, and now two people are facing charges in connection to the incident. According to a statement by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on June 5, 2021, one of their deputies tried to stop a car on Ramseur Julian Rd., near Sandy Creek Church Rd. Police say the driver wouldn't pull over and started to lead deputies on a pursuit. During that chase the vehicle turned left onto Randolph Church Rd. going towards NC 22 and came to an abrupt stop near the intersection of Holder Farm Rd when a male subject, jumped out of the front passenger side of the car and ran on foot before the car took off again.
