ASHEBORO N.C. - This month the Randolph County Grand Jury handed down indictments for a local woman on several drug and trafficking charges. During the November 2023 session of the Randolph County Grand Jury, True Bill of Indictments were issued on Erica Lynn Locklear for the distribution of narcotics in Randolph County. According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, these indictments were issued as a result of investigations conducted by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice Narcotics Unit. Erica Lynn Locklear has been indicted for multiple felony drug charges. She was served on November 18, 2023, and received a $250,000 secured bond. ASHEBORO N.C. - The owner of a vehicle was arrested on felony drug charges after three juveniles took his vehicle from a party to get more alcohol and were stopped by deputies and troopers in Seagrove on Sunday. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on January 8, 2023, deputies conducted a traffic stop on NC HWY 705 and Lawrence Farm Rd., in Seagrove. During the investigation, it was determined that the three underage juvenile occupants had been at a party in the area. A search of the vehicle located a firearm, twenty-seven individually packaged and sealed oil cartridges containing THC/CBD, marijuana, and psilocybin psychedelic mushrooms. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two men from California were arrested this week after deputies with the Sheriff's Office stopped their Tractor Trailer on I-85. On November 21, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Highway Criminal InterdictionTeam pulled over a Tractor Trailer registered out of California on I-85 in Archdale. During that traffic stop, a K-9 alerted and a deputies searched the truck where according to a press release approximately 230 pounds of marijuana was located and seized. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man has been charged with multiple felonies after a search warrant of his home turned up enough drugs for police to seek trafficking charges. On June 9th, 2022, the Asheboro Police Departments' VICE/ Narcotics unit executed a search warrant at a home on Finchley Ct, located off Gold Hill Rd in Asheboro. According to a report from the department officers located and seized around 35 grams of Fentanyl and approximately 4.5 grams of cocaine and marijuana, along with cash, scales, baggies, and other paraphernalia. Maurice Gerald Lewis has been charged with trafficking-opium, possession with intent, maintain dwelling for controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

ASHEBORO N.C. —A man wanted by the state of New York couldn’t seem to remember his name when asked by police or the judge. Now he’s in jail facing awaiting extradition. On December 13, 2021, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deputy pulled over a vehicle on US Highway 64 East in Ramseur. The driver gave police a fake name before being identified as Daniel Darnell Hunter. Deputies called officers with Ramseur Police Department to assist and when they searched the car police say they found marijuana and US currency. ASHEBORO N.C. — Following a call about a burglary in progress police managed to arrest one suspect, are still looking for a second, and recovered almost a pound and a half of marijuana, leading to a puzzling question. According to the Asheboro Police Department on Dec 7th 2021, Officer Auman was dispatched to the Park Place II Apartments on South Church Street in reference to a burglary in progress. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two men from Raleigh were in jail this morning after being charged in connection with a stolen car and drugs. On the night of November 11th 2021, police responded to Matlab on Hwy 49 South. Officers with the departments S.E.T. team had located a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat that had been reported stolen out of Raleigh behind a warehouse at the business and had fled from police earlier in the day. While the Asheboro officers were on the scene the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office had simultaneously received a call about a suspicious persons on Revelle Trl which runs behind the plant.
