ASHEBORO N.C. – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a driver attempting to pass another car early this morning. According to a press release from the N.C. Highway Patrol, at 5:38 am, On Monday, February 6th, 2023, Troopers responded to a crash that occurred on Prospect Street near Turnpike Road in Randolph County. Troopers say that Dredrick Shavonte Cooper, 32, of Thomasville, N.C., was traveling north on Prospect Street operating a 2000 Lincoln LS passenger vehicle. Joseph Kennth Rowbottom, 49, of Archdale, N.C., was a pedestrian walking north on the southbound shoulder of Prospect Street. Cooper attempted to pass a vehicle traveling in the same direction, traveled off the roadway to the left and struck Rowbottom. Rowbottom died on-scene. Cooper was uninjured in the cra...

ASHEBORO N.C. - A vehicle crash in the early morning hours of November 30th, 2022, closed all southbound lanes on I-85 in Trinity leaving several people with minor injuries. Just after 4:30 am on Wednesday, November 30th, 2022, emergency crews responded to a vehicle accident on I-85 southbound near Hopewell Church Road in Trinity. According to information from the North Carolina Highway Patrol, David Thorman Reed, 60, of Trinity, N.C., was traveling north on I-85 in a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. A female driver from Smyrna, GA., was traveling south on I-85 in a 2016 BMW. According to the NC Highway Patrol, just before 2 am on May 20th 2022, Troopers were called to a single vehicle accident on US Hwy 64 near Mount Shepherd Rd. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Juan De Medina-Garcia of Asheboro, was traveling west on US Hwy 64 when he went off the right side of the roadway, over corrected, before traveling off the road on the left side of the roadway and overturning. Medina-Garcia sustained life threatening injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by EMS to Moses Cone Hospital. ASHEBORO N.C. - A driver was arrested after he almost hit a deputy head on while passing in a no passing zone then led police on a high speed chase last week. According to a press release, on February 5th 2022, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was traveling US 64 West when they were almost struck head on after a driver passed another vehicle in a no passing zone. The deputy flipped around and attempted pull over the driver who refused to stop and led police on a high speed vehicle chase. That chase ended when the driver made a turn on to Carriage Way, a dead-end road. ASHEBORO N.C. — A driver who was involved in a serious accident in Randolph County Wednesday night died from from his injuries this afternoon. The North Carolina Highway Patrol says at 8:31 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021, Troopers responded to a crash on WOW Road near Phillips Road. Forty-Eight year old Christopher Brian Michael from Pine Hall, N.C., was driving south on WOW Road in a when he crossed the center line, traveled off the roadway to the left and overturned. The Highway Patrol says Michael wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. According to a press release by the NC Highway Patrol, at 6:53 PM on Sunday, September 19th, 2021, troopers responded to the report of a crash that occurred on I-85 near Hopewell Church Road in Randolph County. Local law enforcement, including NC Highway Patrol, started the organization to assist families in Randolph County who were in need. "Our organization is given names of children in need by both school systems’ counselors/social workers. We then help Santa shop for those children in Randolph County who will not have a Christmas. We raise money throughout the year and normally provide a hot meal for the children and their family on the day the presents are distributed. According to a press release by the NC Highway Patrol, at 6:19 AM on Monday, March 1st, 2021, troopers responded to I-73 near Vision Drive to a report of multiple vehicle accidents.  According to an official statement, the incident started when Ronald Wheeler, 60, of Albemarle N.C., was traveling north in a 2012 Peterbilt tractor-trailer in the left lane.
