Initial reports indicate that Around 6pm a fire truck from the Level Cross Fire Department, which we believe was responding to assist the Randleman Fire Department with a house fire, was involved in a vehicle collision at the intersection of 220 Bus North and New Salem Rd. FRANKLINVILLE N.C. - A local woman died from injuries sustained in a single vehicle accident in Franklinville last week. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, at 7:48 p.m. on Friday, May 12th, 2023, Troopers responded to the report of a crash that occurred on Clark Avenue near Allred Street in Randolph County. Kaslyn Marie Switzer, of Asheboro, N.C., was traveling east on Clark Avenue operating a 2014 Toyota. Troopers who investigated the scene reported that Switzer traveled off the roadway to the right and struck a tree. Switzer suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to Moses H. FRANKLINVILLE N.C. - A head on collision on US 64 claimed the life of a Franklinville resident on Wednesday afternoon. Just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023, emergency crews responded to a vehicle crash on US 64 near Iron Mountain Road. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Wanda Cox Allred, 74, of Franklinville, N.C., was traveling west on US 64 operating a 2019 Honda CR-V when a driver of a 2006 Mercedes Benz crossed the centerline, striking her vehicle head-on. Allred died on-scene. The driver of the Mercedes Benz suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to Moses H. Cone Hospital in Greensboro. ASHEBORO N.C. - A call about a suspicious vehicle turned into a pursuit that ended with a teen in jail facing a list of felony charges. On May 5th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to the area of Allred St. and West Main St., Franklinville, for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller provided a description of the occupants of the vehicle who had pulled over and were walking in the area. When deputies arrived, they spotted a male subject standing on the passenger side of the vehicle. "When the deputy turned on the vehicle spotlights, the male ran around the vehicle, entered the driver’s seat and drove off. According to information released by the State Highway Patrol, on Tuesday, March 21 st , 2023, at 8:17 pm Troopers responded to the report of a crash that occurred on Mt. Gilead Church Road near Hoover Hill Road in Randolph County. Justin Gray Hall, aged thirty-six, from Sandy Ridge, N.C., was traveling west on Mt. Gilead Church Road operating a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Troopers say he traveled left of center and left the roadway causing his motorcycle to overturn. At 11:20 a.m. on Monday, March 6th, 2023, the State Highway Patrol responded to the report of a crash that occurred on NC 134 at Center Cross Church Road. Troopers say 58-year-old Balvantbh Thakorbhai Patel, of McLeansville, N.C., was traveling west on Center Cross Church Road in a 2021 Toyota Highlander. Patel failed to stop at the intersection at NC134 and was struck by a truck-tractor, pulling a semi-trailer. Patel died on-scene. Troopers say that Dredrick Shavonte Cooper, 32, of Thomasville, N.C., was traveling north on Prospect Street operating a 2000 Lincoln LS passenger vehicle. On January 13th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an incident on US 220business just south of McDowell Road after a caller reported an armed person. Upon arrival, deputies met with the caller who said he had been the victim of a road rage incident where his vehicle was shot at before being rammed by another driver.
