According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, just after 4 a.m. on February 16th, 2024, deputies responded to Oakland Ave., Asheboro, for a reported hit-and-run involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The male victim was located unresponsive on the ground and the driver of the vehicle had fled the area. EMS responded and the victim was airlifted to an area hospital. On February 19th, 2023, deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to a breaking and entering in progress on Oakland Avenue, in Asheboro. The caller, a neighbor, reported seeing three people on the property of an abandoned house.
