ASHEBORO N.C. - A wanted man is facing multiple charges after authorities say while attempting to flee from deputies the suspect rammed a patrol car before almost crashing into a home earlier this week. According to a press release, on December 26th, 2022, Deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office were searching the Ramseur/Liberty areas for Jimmy Ray Pearson, who had multiple outstanding warrants. A deputy observed Pearson's vehicle traveling north on Ramseur Julian Rd. Additional deputies responded and a traffic stop was initiated but Pearson refused to stop and continued on Colonial Trading Path. On December 13th, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Stanton Rd for a call about an assault. ASHEBORO N.C. - One person was arrested in Trinity after a 911 caller reported a breaking and entering in progress and police arrived to find the suspect attempting to break into another home. On December 10, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Koonce Dr., in Trinity, for a call about a suspicious person. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, while enroute, another caller reported a breaking and entering in progress in the same area. The caller told officials that a white male subject had attempted to enter the residence, buildings, and had entered a vehicle. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two people were arrested last week near the Randolph County Agricultual Site for allegedly stealing telephone wire in the area. Last week, on December 8th, 2022, deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office were patrolling on US Hwy 64 E, just outside the Asheboro city limits when they observed a vehicle pulling out from a trail that leads to the future site of the Randolph County Agricultural Center. On November 24, 2022, at around 5 pm, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Office on US Hwy 220 Bus. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two men from California were arrested this week after deputies with the Sheriff's Office stopped their Tractor Trailer on I-85. On November 21, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Highway Criminal InterdictionTeam pulled over a Tractor Trailer registered out of California on I-85 in Archdale. During that traffic stop, a K-9 alerted and a deputies searched the truck where according to a press release approximately 230 pounds of marijuana was located and seized. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local woman is facing several charges after the Sheriff's Office says she pulled a gun on deputies attempting to perform a welfare check at the home last week. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on November 3rd, 2022, deputies responded to Low Bridge Rd., in Liberty, to conduct a welfare check of children following a domestic dispute. The Sheriff's Office says when deputies arrived a female, whom they identified as Melisa Ann Herriott, opened the front door of the residence, and simultaneously pointed a handgun directly at one of the deputies.
