Anyone interested in learning more about a career with Randolph County Sheriff's Office is invited to attend one of four information sessions with recruiters and detention staff. Events will be on September 15th, October 6th, October 27th, and November 10th from 6pm to 8pm at the Randolph County Sheriff's Office main office on McDowell Rd in Asheboro. ASHEBORO N.C. - A man from Bunnlevel is facing multiple felony charges after being charged with stealing 1,000 gallons of gasoline from a local gas station. On July 9, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Handy Hugo gas station on Hwy 64 East in Asheboro in reference to a possible larceny/theft of fuel in progress. According to a press release, when deputies arrived, they noticed a white Chevrolet truck with a work bed sitting in theparking lot of the gas station over the underground fuel tanks. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office is asking for help identifying a suspect involved in a robbery of the Coleridge Dollar General earlier this week. On August 14, 2022, at approximately 9:15 pm, an armed robbery occurred at the Dollar Generallocated at 4448 NC HWY 22 S., in Ramseur which is located in the Coleridge area. Surveillance video shows a male enter the business at approximately 9:15 pm wearing black pants, tan in color boots, black jacket with white lettering near the left side, a black face mask, and blue in color hood. According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 5:00 pm deputies responded to awelfare check on Cable Creek Rd., in Asheboro. A press release says when deputies arrived a male subject exited the residence with a firearm before retreating into the residence, then fleeing out the back on foot, still armed. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly tried to set a house on fire in Franklinville. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on July 31, 2022, deputies responded with the Franklinville Fire Department to a report of a house fire on W. Main St. in Franklinville. The Sheriff's Office says their deputies received information that a Hispanic male subject in a red shirt, approached the residence with a gas can, and set the residence on fire. They were able to identify that male as Evelio Pinales, who was later located and arrested at his residence. Pinales was charged with one count of felony second degree arson. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office along with the SBI is investigating the death of an inmate earlier this month at the Randolph County Jail. On July 18th, 2022, shortly before 9:00 am, an inmate at the Randolph County Jail was found unresponsive by detention center staff conducting medical rounds. According to a press release, medical staff and officers performed CPR until EMS arrived. The inmate was transported to Randolph Health where he was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. The SBI has been notified of the incident and is investigating the death along with the Sheriff's Office’s Criminal Investigations Division. On July 25th, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Driftwood Dr., in Archdale, after receiving a call about a burglary in progress. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, when the victim returned home along with finding his dogs had been let out and his ATV was missing from his carport, he also noticed a man in the woods without any clothing on. ASHEBORO N.C. - A man has been arrested on and charged with multiple felony assault charges after the Sheriff's office says they were called to a stabbing last Friday in Franklinville. On July 23, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to the area of Rockie River Street and US Hwy 64 E, in Franklinville, responding to a 9-1-1 caller stating that someone had been assaulted. Once deputies, Randolph County EMS and Franklinville Fire Department arrived on scene, it was determined that the victim was suffering from numerous injuries, including a stab wound. In a press release this week the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says that on June 7, 2022, a deputy was in the area of Caraway Mtn. Rd, near Asheboro, conducting an investigation, when a driver approached to report seeing a female being forced out of a vehicle on Caraway Mtn. Road. Deputies located that female, who was observed exiting the vehicle earlier on Caraway Mtn. Rd., and transported her to an area hospital for evaluation.
