ASHEBORO N.C. — A Randleman man was arrested on Drug trafficking charges earlier this week. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, on December 22nd, 2021, their Vice and Narcotics unit working with the Asheboro Police Department concluded an investigation after receiving information about an the distribution of Heroin and Fentanyl in Asheboro.That investigation led detectives to execute a search warrant at the Motel 6 in Asheboro at 827 Albemarle Rd. Police say that search found a "trafficking amount" of Fentanyl was located, along with Alprazolam (a generic form of Xannax), drug paraphernalia and US Currency. Image provided by RCSO On Monday, December 6, 2021, at approximately 10: 30 pm deputies responded to a Missing Person report on an address on Benny Lineberry Rd. in Climax, NC, Matthew Pierce reported that his 1-year-old child, Ava Pierce was taken by her mother, Roxanne Michelle Parson, during a visit on December 1, 2021. Parson’s parental rights had been terminated. An alert was sent out with anyone who had any information asked to call 911, the sheriff's office or crimestoppers. ASHEBORO N.C. - A woman has been charged in connection with a house fire back on Sunday in Asheboro. Thats according to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office who in a press release said that on November 28, 2021 they responded to the scene of a house fire at the request of the Fire Marshal Investigator. That investigation, a team effort between the Fire Marshal’s Office and the Criminal Investigations Detectives, determined that Laura Nicole Gunter had intentionally set fire to the home on Staleys Farm Rd., in Asheboro. Gunter was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail where the magistrate found probable cause for charge of Felony Fraudulently Burning Dwelling. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two men from Raleigh were in jail this morning after being charged in connection with a stolen car and drugs. On the night of November 11th 2021, police responded to Matlab on Hwy 49 South. Officers with the departments S.E.T. team had located a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat that had been reported stolen out of Raleigh behind a warehouse at the business and had fled from police earlier in the day. On October 15, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received a tip about Kevin Lee Nunn that said he was receiving and distributing Child Sexual Abuse Material.Deputies along with agents from Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant was executed at Nunn’s home on November 5, 2021.The next day charges were sought for ten counts of Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. ASHEBORO NC – A man is in jail today after he led sheriff’s deputies on a high speed chase that ended in Montgomery County. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s office just after 11 PM on October 29th, 2021 they pulled over a driver just south of the Ulah Troy exit on I-73/74. Police say that as the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver sped off getting back onto I-73/74 heading south.A vehicle pursuit ensued, with speeds reading almost 100 mph according to law enforcement radio traffic. ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sherriff's Office arrested two burglary suspects red handed, one who was stealing from an home as family members hid in a bedroom and another who robbed the same home several times. Raymond Schofield Hyatt On October 16, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Burglary in Progress on Hawthorne Dr. in Asheboro. The deputies located the suspect still inside the residence. They ordered him to come out and upon leaving the house, the suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly arrested. ASHEBORO NC – A man is facing dozens of felony charges after he was arrested in connection with a string of vehicle break-ins across Randolph County. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office they received multiple calls during the first few weeks of August about vehicle break-ins in the Trinity, Thomasville and north-west Asheboro areas. They say their investigation led them to charge Franklin Lee Allen for 19 Counts of Felony Breaking or Entering into a Motor Vehicle, Felony Larceny of Firearm, Felony Possession of Stolen Firearm, 10 Counts of Misdemeanor Larceny, and 10 Counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Goods/Property. According to information from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on October 2, 2021, a deputy tried to pull over a vehicle on Hwy 311 near Shean Dr in Archdale. Police say the driver immediately sped off starting a vehicle pursuit. The chase left 311 on to Tom Hill Rd then on to Trinity Rd. and NC HWY 62. That's when police say the driver lost control of the vehicle near the 5200 block of NC HWY 62 leaving the roadway and colliding with trees.
