In a press release this afternoon RCPH says they have confirmed the first case of monkeypox in the county and they say that individual, who will remain un-identified due to patient privacy, is currently isolated at home. “At this time, the risk of monkeypox transmission remains low,” said Tara Aker, Randolph County health director. “Our Health Department’s Communicable Disease team is monitoring the situation closely and is working closely with North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to respond.” As of today (Aug 8th 2022), the CDC reports there are 7,510 confirmed cases in the United States, wi...

ASHEBORO N.C. - Today the Randolph County Department of Public Health announced they are now offering no-cost at-home COVID-19 antigen tests for the general public. Individuals may get one box of 5 tests per household. ASHEBORO NC - Today Randolph County Public Health (RCPH) announced that they are scheduling appointments for Moderna COVID-19 vaccine booster shots for select groups. Public Health will be following the CDC recommendations meaning the following groups of people would be eligible: Individuals 65 years and older, or∙ Individuals 18 years and older who:o Live or work in a nursing home or long-term care residential facility, or o Have a medical condition that increases risk for severe illness (for example, obesity, asthma, heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes) oro Work in a high-risk profession that puts someone in contact with a lot of people with unknown vaccination status (for example, health care workers, first responders, teachers, food processing workers, retail and resta...

ASHEBORO NC - Randolph County Public Health announced on Facebook today that they have new appointments for the COVID-19 available for the following dates: Wednesday, March 17 from 5-7 pmThursday, March 18 from 8:30-4:30Friday, March 19 from 8:30-4:30 These appointments are for anyone in Groups 1 - 3 which includes frontline healthcare workers, the elderly 65 and older, education workers, and frontline essential workers. Those in Group 4 who have a medical condition that puts them at higher risk and people who live in additional congregate settings are also eligible for the vaccine. The remaining part of Group 4, which includes other essential workers, will be eligible on April 7.
