ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man is facing eight felony animal cruelty charges after Animal Control referred a case to the Sheriff’s Office about the condition of poodles picked up by Happy Hills Animal Foundation.  What led to today's charges started on March 21st 2022, when Animal Control was called out for several dogs running loose around a neighborhood in the Sophia area. Animal control officers were able to get the dogs back into a fenced area, noting that they were severely matted. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two separate homeowners caught burglary suspects red handed before they tried to flee and were arrested by police. On April 18, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to McNeal St, in Asheboro for a report of a burglary in progress. Deputies say when they arrived the victim reported they arrived home to find a female inside the master bedroom of the home. Rona Lee Brown According to information released by the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, during the February session of the Randolph County Grand Jury, a True Bill of Indictment was issued on Rona Lee Brown following an investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice Unit which say they seized approximately 59 grams of Methamphetamine. The indictment issued for Brown was for Felony Trafficking in Methamphetamine (2 Counts) and Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office on April 13th and 14th, 2022, the agencies Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Team conducted Operation "I See You", focusing on child pornography cybertips, to determine the validity of just over 100 pending tips by conducting interviews, computer examinations, cell phone data extractions, and analyzing evidence. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man was arrested Sunday after police responded to a call about shots fired at the Randolph Inn in Asheboro. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on April 10th, 2022, police were dispatched to the area of Albemarle Rd after 911 caller reported someone was firing a gun. Units with the Asheboro Police Department arrived first at the Randolph Inn also responded. Police say they witnessed subjects fighting in the parking lot. ASHEBORO N.C. - A man who led police on a vehicle chase was arrested early Saturday morning after police pulled over the "getaway vehicle" that had come to pick him up. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, on March 19, 2022, at around 3:00 am, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputy tried to pull over a motorcycle on Finch Farm Rd., in the Trinity area. The driver failed to stop and a led police on a chase. On Bescher Chapel Road the driver fled into a field, ditched the motorcycle and fled on foot. Police setup a perimeter in the area and conducted traffic stops on vehicles. ASHEBORO N.C. - A man with 15 outstanding warrants was arrested during a traffic stop on I-73 last week, and things only got worse from there. According to a press release from the the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on March 3rd, 2022, Detectives with the Vice & Narcotics Unit pulled over a vehicle on I-73 North at exit 79. The driver, who they identified as Joseph Adam Spaugh, wanted out of the State of Georgia with full extradition as well as fifteen warrants. Spaugh was placed under arrest. During a search of the vehicle police say they found methamphetamine and paraphernalia.
