ASHEBORO N.C. - Deputies and School Resource Officers across Randolph County are taking extra precaution today after receiving information about vague threats of a school shooting were found on social media. On the evening of May 4th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says it received information regarding a potential threat to schools in Randolph County. "Detectives are actively investigating a picture posted on Snapchat that shows an image of a phone screen with a message related to a threat to commit a school shooting on May 5," said the Sheriff's Office in a press release. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) ASHEBORO N.C. - An online threat posted to social media this weekend against Randleman High School turned out to be a hoax, says the Randolph County Sheriff's Office. According to a press release, on June 4th, 2022, at 7:30 pm, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says it received a report of threatening statements made towards Randleman High School on social media. The Department brought in investigators from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit who were able to identify the address where the messages were sent. Patrol units and detectives responded to the address and were able to identify the individual, a juvenile, who sent the messages. Photo by Brett Jordan on Unsplash ASHEBORO NC – The Liberty Police Department recently found that Facebook had “depublished” the Departments page on the social media site, and they still are not sure why, or if they will get it back. The Town of Liberty announced the news on their Facebook page on Wednesday October 13th 2021. The post said that Facebook removed the page for “violation of community standards” and that Facebook has “refused to tell the Police Department exactly why the page had been depublished”.
