Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce Announce 8th Annual Field of Honor

Field of Honor Asheboro (Scott Pelkey / Acme News Archive) ASHEBORO N.C. – Join the Asheboro Rotary Club and the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce as they present a panorama of Stars and Stripes as part of the 8th annual Field of Honor. From Friday, November 10, through Sunday, November 12, the baseball field at South Asheboro Middle School will once again be transformed into the Field of Honor with 500 U.S. flags posted in perfect rows and columns in tribute of heroes. The public may sponsor flags in recognition of those heroes, including veterans, active duty service men and women, first responders, and any personal heroes or heroines. ASHEBORO N.C. – The Asheboro Rotary Club and the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce will come together to put on the 6th annual Field of Honor later this month. Starting on Friday, November 11th, and running through Sunday, November 13, the baseball field at South Asheboro Middle School will covered with 500 U.S. flags in recognition of veterans, active-duty service men and women, and first responders. Throughout the weekend, the public will be able to visit the Field of Honor and walk among the flags anytime, day or night. Armed Altercation Triggers School Lockdown

ASHEBORO - An altercation on Albemarle Road involving a gun triggered a lock down at two Asheboro schools. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at approximately 2:25 PM, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to the 500 block of Albemarle Road after receiving a call about an armed person. The callers reported an altercation between multiple people, with at least one who was armed with a handgun. Asheboro High School, South Asheboro Middle School were placed on lockdown and an officer was posted at the nearby child care facility. Officers have located and detained individuals they believe to be involved in the original incident and the lockdown has been lifted. The investigation on scene is on-going. ...
