Acme News Archive ASHEBORO N.C. - Two juveniles were found occupying a stolen car that was involved in a chase with police earlier this week. According to a police report from the Asheboro Police Department on Aug 9th 2022, just after 2am in the morning, an officer attempted to pull over on S Fayetteville St near Lanier Ave. Police say that vehicle was reported stolen and linked to an attempted vehicle left. A brief chase through the back streets of Asheboro occurred and when the vehicle was stopped officers found two juveniles in the car. Police released the juveniles back to their parents, but plan to seek juvenile petitions against them at a later date. Aleksandr Lesik / Adobe Stock ASHEBORO N.C. - A man who tried to run on foot from a traffic stop was arrested and charged in connection with several break ins at an Asheboro apartment complex earlier that night. On March 1st 2022, just before midnight an officer with the Asheboro Police Department responded to the Madison Heights apartments on N Fayetteville Street after getting a call about a burglary in progress. According to a police report the arriving officer spoke with a resident at the apartments who had heard multiple car alarms going off and saw an unidentified male inside of his vehicle. Jason Edward Brown ASHEBORO N.C. - A man was arrested last Wednesday after police say he stole a car and wallet, then used the victim's ID to identify himself.  According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on June 16, 2021, deputies responded to the 8100 block of US-64 W. in Trinity, NC, after receiving a call about a stolen car. The victim said the vehicle was stolen on June 11, 2021, between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm and that a wallet containing their ID and a spare key to the vehicle was also taken.  While investigating deputies were told that the High Point Police Department had located the stolen vehicle in their jurisdiction along with the suspect, Jason Edward Brown. Police say that Brown attempted to use the victim’s identification when trying to identify himself to them....

ASHEBORO NC - On the night of June 15th the Randolph County Sherriff's office arrested one man for allegedly stealing a car and another for trying to destroy evidence. According to a press release, on June 15, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Danny Bell Rd for a report of a stolen car. The victim identified Jesse Lee Thompson as the suspect. At around 11:46 pm, deputies located the stolen car at a house in the Poole Rd. area of Archdale. While the deputies were in the home, they saw a crystal-like substance on the table in the kitchen with multiple syringes. Thompson was found in the home and was taken into custody, but while they were arresting Thompson, another resident, identified as Nicholas Lee Toomes attempted to dispose of the illicit substance.
