After getting a house fire under control, firefighters work to put out hot spots and overhaul the scene on Friday Jan 13th, 2023. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) ASHEBORO N.C. - No one was injured after a home on Ashbrook View Ln in Asheboro caught fire early Friday afternoon. At 1:25 PM on Friday January 13th, 2023, firefighters from Ulah, Westside, and East Side Fire Departments, along with Randolph County EMS were dispatched to a home on Ashbrook View Ln in Asheboro. The first unit arrived on scene at 1:30pm and reported a working fire near the rear of the structure. Firefighters had the blaze under control by 1:55 PM but remained on scene for 3 hours performing overhaul operations. Unattended Camp Fire sparks Woods Fire in Birkhead Mountains Wilderness Area

(Photo by Jared Byrd / Randolph County Emergency Services) ASHEBORO N.C. - Officials are saying an unattended campfire is to blame for starting a woods fire that consumed around 1.5 acres in the Birkhead Mountains Wilderness Area this afternoon. At around 2 pm, firefighters from Ulah Fire Department along with Rangers from the NC Forestry Service were dispatched to the Birkhead Mountains Wilderness Area for a report of a woods fire. According to a post on Facebook by the Ulah Fire Department the fire was located approximately 1.5 miles into the Birkhead Wilderness trails. Personnel had the fire contained within an hour of reaching its point of origin and were able to clear the scene at around 4:30 pm. No injuries were reported.

Drone photo of firefighters on scene at Asheboro Recycling Center (Scott P / Acme News) ASHEBORO N.C. - No injuries were reported after a cargo container at Asheboro Recycling caught fire last Friday. On April 22nd 2022, just after before 4 pm, fire crews from Asheboro, Ulah, and Eastside Fire Department's were dispatched to the Asheboro Recycling Center on Southmont Dr, in Asheboro for a report of a fire. When firefighters arrived they found a cargo container at the corner of the property ablaze. Smoke from the fire could be seen east of Asheboro. According to Samantha East, Public Information Officer with the Asheboro Fire Department crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported and the cause of fire is undetermined.

Randolph County 911 received the first call about the fire at 11:36am on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. The caller reported a building was on fire at at 2382 Doul Mtn. Rd at the Tot Hill Farm Golf Course. Crews from Ulah, East Side and Westside Fire Departments all responded along with Randolph County EMS and Emergency Management. Kim Rush Hoogkamp who nearby, captured several photos showing the aftermath of the fire. ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS)- This morning we are learning more about a mobile home fire Sunday that police believed was set intentionally. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release today that on the morning of Sunday November 21st, 2021, a deputy in the area of US 220 Bus S, near New Hope Church Rd saw a large amount of black smoke coming from Drum St. When that deputy arrived they reported a mobile home was on fire.
