ASHEBORO N.C. - A call about a suspicious vehicle turned into a pursuit that ended with a teen in jail facing a list of felony charges. On May 5th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to the area of Allred St. and West Main St., Franklinville, for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller provided a description of the occupants of the vehicle who had pulled over and were walking in the area. When deputies arrived, they spotted a male subject standing on the passenger side of the vehicle. ASHEBORO N.C. - An armed individual who fled from police earlier this week was arrested and is now facing multiple charges. That's according to the Randolph Couty Sheriff's Office who says on May 1st, 2023, their deputies responded to Harlow Rd, in the Archdale area, in reference to a reported armed person. Randolph County 911 advised the deputies enroute that an armed suspect had left the scene and provided a description of the vehicle. According to a press release, a deputy responding to the area located the suspect vehicle on Harlow near Tuttle Rd and attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle fled. ASHEBORO N.C. - The driver of a motorcycle who tried to flee from police Sunday was arrested after crashing his motorcycle. On April 9th, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to pull over a motorcycle near US Hwy 220 S. According to a press release, the driver fled onto Old State Highway starting a vehicle pursuit and onto US HWY 220 S. from Virgil Hill Road where he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. Police say the driver, who was identified as Richard Anthony Vestal, Jr fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. Randolph County EMS responded to evaluate Vestal and he was transported to Randolph Health for evaluation. At the hospital, a search found suspected illicit drugs. According to information from the Asheboro Police Department, officers were notified of several 911 calls reporting at least five vehicles broken into at Summers Run Apartments. Police say they were able to determine the suspect's vehicle. ASHEBORO N.C. - What started as a call for a possible overdose in Asheboro ended with two people arrested, a gun seized, a stolen car recovered, all after a vehicle chase. On June 30, 2022 at around 6pm emergency crews and police were called to a possible overdose in the parking lot of the Randolph Mall. The 911 caller stated two subjects were slumped over inside a vehicle, which was parked in front of Belks.
