One Arrested For Stolen Car, Another For Trying To Destroy Evidence

ASHEBORO NC – On the night of June 15th the Randolph County Sherriff’s office arrested one man for allegedly stealing a car and another for trying to destroy evidence.

According to a press release, on June 15, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Danny Bell Rd for a report of a stolen car. The victim identified Jesse Lee Thompson as the suspect.

At around 11:46 pm, deputies located the stolen car at a house in the Poole Rd. area of Archdale. While the deputies were in the home, they saw a crystal-like substance on the table in the kitchen with multiple syringes. Thompson was found in the home and was taken into custody, but while they were arresting Thompson, another resident, identified as Nicholas Lee Toomes attempted to dispose of the illicit substance. He was also placed under arrest for destruction of evidence.

Thompson and Toomes were both transported to Randolph County Detention Center and taken before the magistrate who found probable cause for the charges as follows:

  • Outstanding Orders for Arrest: Failure to Appear on driving violations
  • Outstanding Warrant: Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.
