ASHEBORO NC – A local man is facing felony charges after crashing a car into his ex’s car several times and fleeing the scene.
The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says on July 11th, 2021, they were asked by Troopers with the North Carolina Highway Patrol to respond to the area of Old Farmer Road and Oakgrove Road, in Asheboro. Troopers were on the scene of an accident/hit-and-run that had occurred earlier during a domestic confrontation. Police say they discovered that the victim’s vehicle had been intentionally struck by a former romantic partner which caused the victim to crash. The suspect had fled the scene but was identified as Tiron Dyson McDonald according to reports.
Deputies located McDonald’s vehicle used in the assault but McDonald was not located. The Sheriff’s Office took the evidence to a magistrate who found probable cause to issue warrants for the arrest of McDonald for Felony Hit / Run with Injuries, four counts of Misdemeanor Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and No Operators License.
On July 12, 2021, McDonald was located and arrested on an outstanding warrant. The magistrate denied his bond. McDonald had a first appearance in court on July 13, 2021, in Randolph County District Court.
