ASHEBORO — An Asheboro man has been charged and arrested in connection with a fatal hit and run earlier this month on I-73 near Greensboro. Around 7:30 a.m. on April 17th, 2024, the State Highway Patrol responded to a crash on I-73 south, near West Steeple Chase Road in Guilford County. According to the Highway Patrol, 55-year-old Clyde Strickland, of Raeford, N.C. was walking south on I-73 when he was struck by a vehicle. On Monday, April 22nd, the Highway Patrol was notified by medical staff that Strickland had succumbed to injuries. Following the crash the NC Highway Patrol sent out a press release to local media outlets asking for information to identify the vehicle and/or driver. ASHEBORO — The North Carolina Highway Patrol is searching for a suspect involved in a fatal hit and run last week. Around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday April 17th, 2024, the State Highway Patrol responded to the report of a crash that occurred on I-73 south, near West Steeple Chase Road in Guilford County. On Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, Troopers with the NC Highway Patrol responded to a crash on US 64 near Westbury Drive. Investigators say that a black 2017 Lexus RX 350 SUV passed a 2016 Toyota in a turning lane, resulting in a collision that sent the Toyota off the roadway to the right, striking an embankment, and a tree. According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, troopers responded to the report of a crash that occurred on US 64 near Westbury Drive in Randolph County. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, just after 4 a.m. on February 16th, 2024, deputies responded to Oakland Ave., Asheboro, for a reported hit-and-run involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. On April 25th, 2023, at around 3:30 pm, Randleman Fire Department and Randolph County EMS were dispatched to the Wendy's located at 1029 High Point St, in Randleman for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into the building. ASHEBORO N.C. - A driver has been charged in connection with a hit and run accident after police say he struck a power pole and left the scene late last year. On December 26th, 2022, just before 3 AM an Officer with the Asheboro Police Department responded to South Park Street at West Kivett Street in reference to a report of a hit and run. When police arrived, they found a power pole at the corner of the intersection snapped in several pieces. ASHEBORO N.C. - A driver is facing a laundry list of charges after police say they found her barely breathing behind the wheel of an SUV last week, after she struck 2 street signs and part of a convenience store on Sunset Ave. According to police reports from the Asheboro Police Department on Wednesday July 13th just before 3:30am, officers responded to 509 Sunset Ave in Asheboro for a report of a suspicious vehicle. When officers arrived they say they located a gray SUV running, with its lights next to a dumpster in a grassy area next the the Quik Chek.
