Man Dies From Injuries From Wednesday Night Crash

ASHEBORO N.C. — A driver who was involved in a serious accident in Randolph County Wednesday night died from from his injuries this afternoon.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol says at 8:31 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021, Troopers responded to a crash on WOW Road near Phillips Road. Forty-Eight year old Christopher Brian Michael from Pine Hall, N.C., was driving south on WOW Road in a when he crossed the center line, traveled off the roadway to the left and overturned. The Highway Patrol says Michael wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Michael received serious life-threatening injuries and was airlifted from the scene to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. WOW Road remained closed for nearly two hours during the investigation.

Tonight the State Highway Patrol was notified by hospital staff that Michael had succumbed to injuries received during the crash and had passed away Thursday afternoon, December 16th, 2021.
