ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) – One person is dead today after shots rang out at a party late last night in Randleman.
What we have learned today is that on January 8th 2022, a private party was being held at a residence on Leonae Drive in Randleman. At around 10:30 p.m. approximately 20 people who weren’t invited showed up and just an hour and fifteen minutes later at 11:45 p.m., a fight broke out in the front yard. During that fight multiple gunshots were fired by an unknown subject. The shooter fled the scene along with most of the guests immediately following the shooting.
A flood of 911 calls came in and at 11:58 p.m. the Randolph County Sheriff’s office along with fire and EMS responded to the scene. They were notified that the victim had been taken to Randolph Hospital in the back of a pickup truck. After a crowd gathered outside the emergency room, Randolph Hospital’s Emergency Department went into lock down. Detectives and Crime Scene investigators with the Sheriff’s Office began collecting information at the scene.
CSI also responded to Randolph Hospital where Asheboro PD was securing the Emergency Room as well as the truck used to transport the victim.
In a press release this afternoon the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says that the shooting victim, 20-year-old Daniel Lopez Vences, had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead the hospital.
