ASHEBORO N.C. – A joint investigation between the Asheboro Police Department, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and Guilford County Sheriff’s office led to a suspect being arrested in connection with a string of armed robberies, including an armed robbery of the Randleman Dollar General.
On February 15, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Dollar General on South Main Street in Randleman for an armed robbery. At the scene they collected evidence including using the description of the suspect and his vehicle provided by a 911 caller to issue a BOLO to all area law enforcement agencies.
The next day officers with the Asheboro Police Department pulled over a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle in the BOLO. Police identified the driver as Justin Jay Oxendine.
The Asheboro Police Department contacted detectives from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and began a joint investigation, with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office also joining the case. Police say Oxendine is believed to be a person-of-interest in a string of armed robberies that have occurred in all three jurisdictions.
That joint investigation led Randolph County detectives to seek charges against Oxendine for two counts of felony robbery with dangerous weapon. On February 17, 2022, Oxendine was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail where he was served the warrants and issued a $50,000 secured bond. He was also served warrant out of Guilford County for felony robbery with dangerous weapon and received a $50,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for February 18, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
