Driver Crashes Trying To Flee From Asheboro Police

ASHEBORO N.C. – A driver is facing multiple charges after police say instead of pulling over he gave them the bird before he tried to flee, crashing his motorcycle, and trying to run from the scene last Friday.

According to a report from the Asheboro Police Department on June 10th 2022, an officer and trainee working with the departments patrol division spotted a white male on a motorcycle on N. Fayetteville St. near E. Burns St. The report says officers witnessed the driver swerve towards the right of the road at Presnell St before swearing back on to N. Fayetteville St.

Officer say when they activated their lights and siren behind the motorcycle on N. Fayetteville St. near Truliant Bank, the driver of the motorcycle held up his right arm over his head and flipped off the officers. The driver continued traveling north on N. Fayetteville St then turned right from N. Fayetteville St. onto E. Allred St. accelerating rapidly.

When officers turned onto E. Allred St. they found a motorcycle laying on its side in a driveway near the intersection of Meadowbrook Rd. and E. Allred St. Officers say when they arrived they were met with a white male, running from the motorcycle towards E. Allred St. An Officer ordered the male, who was wearing clothes matching the description of the driver, to stop and the he was detained.

The driver was identified as Dustin Scott Marion, who was charged with Felony Flee to Elude law enforcement, driving while license revoked, give lend or borrow a registration plate, reckless driving to endanger, fictitious tag, no liability insurance, fail to heed lights or sirens. Marion was also charged by citation with expired registration tag, expired inspection, improper helmet, failing to maintain lane, exceeding posted speed limit and served with two outstanding orders for arrest. A court date of 06/ 13/22 in Randolph County for the criminal charges. Marion was issued a total of $17, 000 secured bond for the charges.
