Pedestrian Struck in Fatal Accident in Randleman

ASHEBORO N.C. – An elderly pedestrian walking along US 220 in Randleman last night when he was fatally struck by a vehicle in an accident.

According to a press release from the NC State Highway Patrol, at 10:07 pm on Thursday, December 15th, 2022, troopers responded to the report of a crash that occurred on US 220 Business near New Salem Road in Randolph County.

Glenn Chriscoe, 83, of Randleman, NC, was traveling as a pedestrian, north on US 220 Business. A driver was traveling north on US 220 Business in a 2016 Nissan Altima. That driver struck Chriscoe in the roadway. Chriscoe died on-scene, the driver was uninjured during the collision.

Investigators noted that Chriscoe was wearing dark clothing, without any available reflective markings, and walking in the travel lane of US 220 Business when he was struck.

Troopers say the driver will not face charges in the crash.

US 220 Business near New Salem Road was closed for approximately two (2) hours during the
investigation.

Troopers cleared the scene at 11:33 p.m.
