Asheboro Police Seeking Driver Who Hit Pedestrian & Fled Scene [UPDATED]

At around 6 p.m. on Aug 23rd, 2023, emergency crews were called to 23 S Fayetteville St, in Asheboro for a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle. Crews arrived to find a pedestrian lying in the crosswalk near the Magnolia 23 restaurant with witnesses in the roadway trying to assist him. One Airlifted After Vehicle Strikes Pedestrian on E Dixie Dr

[Scott Pelkey | North State Journal] ASHEBORO N.C. - One person was airlifted with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle on E Dixie Dr last Friday. On Friday, July 28th, 2023, at around 7:30 pm, emergency crews were called to the scene of a vehicle collision where a pedestrian was struck on E Dixie Dr near Zaxby's. According to an accident report from the Asheboro Police Department, a 2005 Nissan SUV was traveling west on E Dixie Dr near Executive Way when a pedestrian stepped into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle. The 28-year-old male victim sustained serious injuries and was transported by the scene by Randolph County EMS to the helipad at Randolph Hospital where they were air-lifted by Baptist AirCare to a local trauma center. Pedestrian Killed in Early Morning Crash

ASHEBORO N.C. – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a driver attempting to pass another car early this morning. According to a press release from the N.C. Highway Patrol, at 5:38 am, On Monday, February 6th, 2023, Troopers responded to a crash that occurred on Prospect Street near Turnpike Road in Randolph County. Troopers say that Dredrick Shavonte Cooper, 32, of Thomasville, N.C., was traveling north on Prospect Street operating a 2000 Lincoln LS passenger vehicle. Joseph Kennth Rowbottom, 49, of Archdale, N.C., was a pedestrian walking north on the southbound shoulder of Prospect Street. Cooper attempted to pass a vehicle traveling in the same direction, traveled off the roadway to the left and struck Rowbottom. Rowbottom died on-scene. Cooper was uninjured in the cr...

Pedestrian Struck in Fatal Accident in Randleman

ASHEBORO N.C. - An elderly pedestrian walking along US 220 in Randleman last night when he was fatally struck by a vehicle in an accident. According to a press release from the NC State Highway Patrol, at 10:07 pm on Thursday, December 15th, 2022, troopers responded to the report of a crash that occurred on US 220 Business near New Salem Road in Randolph County. Glenn Chriscoe, 83, of Randleman, NC, was traveling as a pedestrian, north on US 220 Business. A driver was traveling north on US 220 Business in a 2016 Nissan Altima. That driver struck Chriscoe in the roadway. Chriscoe died on-scene, the driver was uninjured during the collision. Investigators noted that Chriscoe was wearing dark clothing, without any available reflective markings, and walking in the travel lane of US ...

Pedestrian Struck in Fatal Randleman Accident

ASHEBORO N.C. - A vehicle accident yesterday evening in Randleman on US 220 Business left one dead. On December 11, 2022, at approximately 6:24 p.m., officers with the Randleman Police Department responded to a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on US 220 Business N near Sibbett Street. The pedestrian, Christopher Dale Hicks, 38, of Randleman, was struck by a 2014 Honda CR-V. According to a press release from the Randleman Police Department, the driver was traveling south on US 220 Business when Hicks walked into the roadway and was struck by Dobbins’ vehicle. Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene. No Charges will be filed.

ASHEBORO N.C. - A pedestrian was taken to the hospital late Saturday night after being struck by a driver off of Sunset Ave in Asheboro. According to an accident report by the Asheboro Police Department, the collision occurred on Saturday Nov 13th 2021 just after 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Sunset Ave and Dixon St. Police say the driver, Juan Carlos De of Asheboro, was making a turn off of Sunset Ave and on to Dixon Ave when he struck a 68 year old male crossing the road heading home to the apartments on Sunset Ave. Police charged the driver with failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian and for driving without a license.
