One Arrested After Asheboro Traffic Stop Leads To Vehicle Chase

ASHEBORO N.C. – One man was arrested after leading police on a short chase just after midnight on Monday in Asheboro.

According to a police report from the Asheboro Police Department just after midnight on November 28th, 2022, an officer attempted to pull over a on a silver passenger vehicle due to the odor of marijuana near Dublin Rd and NC Hwy 42. The driver refused to pull over and fled the stop leading police on a 3.2 mile vehicle pursuit.

Police identified the driver as Tirrell McDonald, who was arrested and charged with Felony Flee to Elude, Failing to heed lights and siren, resisting a public officer, simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, left of center, and fail to stop at a steady red light.

McDonald is set to appear in Randolph County district court on December 14th, 2022.
