ASHEBORO N.C. – One person was arrested Sunday evening after a neighbor called 911 to report people around an abandoned home in Asheboro.
On February 19th, 2023, deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a breaking and entering in progress on Oakland Avenue, in Asheboro.
The caller, a neighbor, reported seeing three people on the property of an abandoned house.
While deputies with the Sheriff’s Office were enroute, officers with the Asheboro Police Department advised they had detained three suspects on Peachtree Street, who matched the description given out by 911.
According to a press release by the Sheriff’s Office, further investigation revealed that one of the subjects, whom they identified as Alex Ryan Presnell, had entered the house.
A subsequent search revealed that Presnell was in possession of drug paraphernalia, burglary tools and an item believed to have been stolen from the house.
The other two suspects, both females, were questioned by police and later released without being charged.
Presnell was arrested and transported to Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony breaking and entering, felony possession of burglary tools and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a $20,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for February 20, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
