ASHEBORO N.C. – A local man is in jail after being charged with rape by the Sheriff’s Office.
On December 14, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sexual crime. In a press release the Sheriff’s Office says, “following a lengthy investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against Christopher James Hazelwood of Asheboro, for felony 2nd degree forcible rape.”
The Sheriff’s Offices’ Criminal Apprehension Team located Hazelwood, on March 29th, 2023, during the execution of a search warrant.
Hazelwood was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail, where he was served the warrant. The magistrate issued a $150,000 secured bond. Hazelwood’s next court date is set for May 10th, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
