One Airlifted After Vehicle Strikes Pedestrian on E Dixie Dr

ASHEBORO N.C. – One person was airlifted with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle on E Dixie Dr last Friday.

On Friday, July 28th, 2023, at around 7:30 pm, emergency crews were called to the scene of a vehicle collision where a pedestrian was struck on E Dixie Dr near Zaxby’s.

According to an accident report from the Asheboro Police Department, a 2005 Nissan SUV was traveling west on E Dixie Dr near Executive Way when a pedestrian stepped into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle.

The 28-year-old male victim sustained serious injuries and was transported by the scene by Randolph County EMS to the helipad at Randolph Hospital where they were air-lifted by Baptist AirCare to a local trauma center.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

As of the time of this article, no charges have been filed.
