Whitney Thayer May

On February 22, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to NC Hwy 22 N., Franklinville, in reference to a reported burglary. Upon investigation, it was determined that a burglary had not occurred. Methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located in the residence during the investigation.
Whitney Thayer May was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for the charge(s) of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
The magistrate issued a $2,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for February 23, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.

Jonathan Charles Toomes

On February 20, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Urban Criminal Interdiction Team initiated a traffic stop for minor violations on St. Peter Church Rd. in Randleman. During the traffic stop, a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and methamphetamine, paraphernalia, and a concealed weapon were located and seized.
As a result, Jonathan Charles Toomes was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor window tinting violation, misdemeanor driving while license revoked -not impaired rev, misdemeanor littering > 15 lbs., misdemeanor carrying concealed weapon, misdemeanor possession drug paraphernalia and drive left of center.
He was given a $25,000 secured bond with a first appearance set for February 21, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.

Joshua Kenneth Kirby

On February 21, 2024, the Door County Sheriff’s Department in Sturgeon Bay, WI, contacted the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) regarding locating Joshua Kenneth Kirby, who was wanted out of the state of Wisconsin for felony non-support of a child.
The Door County Sheriff’s Department had been actively searching for Kirby and believed he traveled to the Archdale area when he fled Wisconsin. Kirby had full extradition on his charges. Following an investigation into the information, detectives with the Criminal Apprehension Team were able to locate and arrest Kirby on February 22, 2024, on Edgar Rd., Archdale.
He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was charged as a Fugitive from Justice and the magistrate found probable cause for the charge. He was issued a $150,000 secured bond and an extradition hearing has been set for February 29, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.

Connor Seth Saunders

On February 23, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to 7408 Charles Mtn. Rd., Denton, in reference to a reported burglary in progress. Upon arrival, the deputy could see that a window on the south side of the residence appeared to be broken and there was a chair on the ground directly beneath it.
While speaking with the caller in the driveway, they heard glass breaking on the south side of the home and then observed a male subject running away from the property. After a brief foot chase, the male was apprehended and identified as Connor Seth Saunders. The homeowner arrived shortly after and evidence was collected for the investigation.
Saunders was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for the charge(s) of felony breaking and/or entering, misdemeanor injury to real property and misdemeanor resist/obstruct a public officer. The magistrate issued a $75,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for February 26, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.

Christopher Junior Maness

On December 10, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report of larceny from a residence in the US Hwy 64 E. area of Asheboro.
On February 2, 2024, following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against Coty Ann Burkhart for misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods/property. Charges were sought against Christopher Junior Maness for felony obtain property by false pretense, felony possession of stolen goods, and misdemeanor larceny.
The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and warrants were issued. On February 24, 2024, Maness and Burkhart were located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where they were served their outstanding warrants. The magistrate issued a written promise for both to appear on March 4, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.

Robert William Smith

On February 27, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on I-73/74 at US Hwy 64, Asheboro. The driver, identified as Robert William Smith, did not possess a valid driver’s license. During the investigative stop, Smith produced illegal substances and paraphernalia and was detained for further investigation.
Following a subsequent search, Smith was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to sell/deliver counterfeit controlled substance, felony maintain vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana less than a half ounce, and misdemeanor driving while license revoked.
He was issued a $20,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for February 27, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.

Robert Henry Wiek, III

On February 12, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Walt Brown Rd., Bennett, in reference to a weapons offense. During the investigation, it was discovered that Robert Henry Wiek, III, was a felon and should not have had a firearm.
The weapon was seized, and further investigation was conducted.
Following the investigation, a charge was sought for felony possession of a firearm by a felon and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a criminal summons. Wiek presented himself at the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on February 26, 2024, and was served the process. His court date was set for February 27, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.

Steffiany Michele Vernon

On February 7, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Sink Farm Rd., Thomasville, in reference to a reported fraud. Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division Detective, charges were sought against Steffiany Michele Vernon for felony financial card theft, nine counts of felony identity theft, and nine counts of misdemeanor financial card fraud and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest.
On February 27, 2024, Vernon, a current inmate at the Guilford County Detention Center, was served her outstanding warrants. The magistrate denied bond. A first appearance was set for April 1, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.

Kimberly Michelle Brown

On February 27, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Carl Allred Rd., Franklinville, in reference to a reported fraud complaint. Upon arrival, the victim provided information related to the complaint. During the investigation, it was determined that Kimberly Michelle Brown was the suspect in the incident. Deputies located Brown at her residence. Randolph Communications confirmed Brown had an unserved Order for Arrest, two unserved Warrants for Arrest, and was a Wanted Person for Parole Violation and was placed under arrest. During a subsequent search, evidence was located relative to the fraud complaint.
She was transported to Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for charges of Felony Obtain Property by False Pretense and Felony Identity Theft. She was also served her outstanding processes. The magistrate issued a $45,000 total secured bond. A first appearance was set for February 28, 2024, in Randolph County District Court. Brown was also served by Probation at the Detention Center with a no bond Parole Violation hearing order.

David Wayne Long

On October 11, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Haywood Rd., Trinity, in reference to a fraud. Upon arrival, the caller/victim reported that a subject had contacted a building material company in Greensboro, NC on October 9, 2023, and claimed to be him, then charged the card on file for his business for building materials. The subject then arrived at the business to pick up the material and stated that he was sent by the victim to pick same up.
The subject was identified as David Wayne Long, who is known by the victim. The victim then attempted contact with Long but has had no response. Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against Long for two counts felony identity theft, felony financial card fraud and felony obtain property by false pretense.
On February 28, 2024, Long was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served the outstanding warrant. He was also served an order for arrest for failure to appear on a misdemeanor. He was issued a total secured bond of $3,000 and a first appearance was set for February 29, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.

Casey Jay Bare

On February 28, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Braxton Craven Rd., Trinity. Upon approach, the driver stated that his license was suspended. As the deputy walked back to his patrol vehicle to conduct routine record checks, the male exited his vehicle. While attempting to detain the male for officer safety, he assaulted the deputy and fled on foot and a chase ensued. Upon apprehension, he was detained and was identified as Casey Jay Bare. During a subsequent search, methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located and he was placed under arrest. During an inventory of the vehicle, a catalytic converter and a financial card not belonging to him were among other items that were located and seized as evidence.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Bare had eight outstanding processes; two of which were for fraud-related matters. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of catalytic converter, misdemeanor driving while license revoked – not impaired, misdemeanor resisting public officer, misdemeanor assault on government official, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor fictitious/altered title/registration card/tag.
Bond was denied. He was served an order for arrest out of Randolph County for failure to appear on misdemeanor driving while license revoked – not impaired and misdemeanor expired registration card/tag. He was issued a $2,500 secured bond.
A first appearance was set for March 1, 2024, in Randolph County District Court for all the Randolph County charges.
Bare was also served the remaining outstanding processes out of Guilford and Forsyth Counties and received a $63,050 total secured bond with bond being denied on some of the charges. He was served an outstanding order for arrest out of Guilford County for failure to appear on misdemeanor driving while license revoked – not impaired, misdemeanor expired registration card/tag and expired/no inspection, which had a preset $50 cash bond. He was also served an outstanding warrant for arrest for felony flee/elude arrest with motor vehicle. Bond was denied. A court date was set for March 18, 2024, in Guilford County.
He was served an outstanding warrant for arrest in Forsyth County for two counts of felony obtain property by false pretense and received a $10,000 secured bond. He was also served an outstanding order for arrest for failure to appear on misdemeanor second-degree trespass, misdemeanor resisting public officer, and misdemeanor larceny by changing price tag and received a $3,000 secured bond. A court date was set for March 11, 2024, in Forsyth County District Court for these charges. An order for arrest for felony probation violation out of county was served for Forsyth County and he received a $50,000 secured bond and a court date was set for April 1, 2024, in Forsyth County Superior Court.

William Gregory Collins

On March 1, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Craven St. and Brooklyn Ave., Ramseur. The vehicle failed to yield and continued to travel onto Craven St., eventually turning onto Dixon St. where it came to a stop in a driveway. Upon approaching the vehicle, a strong odor of marijuana was present.
The driver, identified as William Gregory Collins, admitted to consuming marijuana earlier. During a subsequent search, methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located. Collins was placed under arrest. He admitted to having marijuana on his person and retrieved it. Collins was subsequently transported to the Randolph County Detention Center and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of a schedule VI-controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, failure to heed lights and siren, speeding and driving left of center.
The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and issued a $2,500 secured bond. A first appearance was set for March 1, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
