Man Arrested After Vehicle Chase Late Friday Night

ASHEBORO NC – A man is in jail today after he led sheriff’s deputies on a high speed chase that ended in Montgomery County.

According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s office just after 11 PM on October 29th, 2021 they pulled over a driver just south of the Ulah Troy exit on I-73/74. Police say that as the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver sped off getting back onto I-73/74 heading south.
A vehicle pursuit ensued, with speeds reading almost 100 mph according to law enforcement radio traffic. The driver took the Seagrove exit, where according to the Sheriff’s office he briefly stopped at the top of the exit ramp and a passenger fled on foot. The driver then took off again on to I-73/74 south into Montgomery County, exiting on 220 Alternate where the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Biscoe Police Department and Star Police Department then joined the pursuit. The Biscoe Police Department successfully deployed spike strips, disabling the vehicle and ending the chase.

Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office searched the area around the Seagrove exit for the suspect who fled on foot. No further information about the that suspect was available at the time of publication.

The driver, who police identified as Antonio Tarcarlo Davis, was taken into custody and transported by EMS to a local hospital for evaluation. The Randolph County Sheriff’s office says they located Marijuana during a search of the vehicle. Upon his release from the hospital, Davis was transported to the Randolph County Jail where he he was served those warrants for charges relating to the chase as well as outstanding Orders for Arrest. He was given a total secured bond of $47,000 and a first appearance was set for today, in Randolph County District Court.
