ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) - No one was injured in a house fire in Asheboro where firefighters arrived to find a fully involved house fire Friday afternoon. Just before 2:30 pm, on Friday March 25th 2022, Firefighters with the Asheboro Fire Department were called to a house on N Church Street. First unit to arrive on scene advised a small house was fully involved. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in just under an hour. The house involved was a total loss and the American Red Cross was called in to assist the residents who were displaced. The heat from the fire also damaged a neighbor's fence and siding and power had to be temporarily cut off after live power lines began arching and shooting out sparks. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) - Detectives and CSI are on the scene of a shooting where three people were injured this afternoon. A press release from the Asheboro Police Department says at around 4:30 pm, patrol officers were dispatched to the area of Coleridge Road near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in reference to a shooting. Arriving officers found 3 victims, a 19 year old male and two juveniles who had all been shot. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) All individuals were transported to a local medical facility. (ACME NEWS) - Police are investigating how a local man who had been reported missing ended up deceased in a wooded area near an Asheboro apartment complex yesterday. On March 9th, 2022, around noon, patrol officers with the Asheboro Police Department were called to the 700 block of Breeze Hill Road, after getting a call about a missing person last seen in the area the day before. (ACME NEWS)- Two Deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff's office had to be taken to the hospital after they were both struck by a vehicle while crossing the road in Asheboro. According to Randolph County 911, at 12:31 p.m. a deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office reported over the radio that her and another deputy had been struck by a vehicle in front of Glaze King Donuts on Albemarle Road. ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) - Two people had to be airlifted from Randolph Hospital overnight following a Shooting on Cedar Falls Rd in Asheboro. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, last night at around 11:40pm officers from the Asheboro Police Department were dispatched to 1012 Cedar Falls Road in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived they located a male victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound in a small building behind the residence. The male who police identified as 29-year-old Randy Christopher Brower of Kernersville was taken to Randolph Hospital by Randolph County EMS. ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) – One person is dead today after shots rang out at a party late last night in Randleman. What we have learned today is that on January 8th 2022, a private party was being held at a residence on Leonae Drive in Randleman. At around 10:30 p.m. approximately 20 people who weren't invited showed up and just an hour and fifteen minutes later at 11:45 p.m., a fight broke out in the front yard. During that fight multiple gunshots were fired by an unknown subject. The shooter fled the scene along with most of the guests immediately following the shooting. (ACME NEWS)- Toyota will be bringing 1,750 jobs to the area after announcing today that they will be building a battery manufacturing plant at the Greensboro-Randolph Megasite in Randolph County. The car manufacture said today they will invest 1.29 billion dollars in building the facility which once constructed will begin producing batteries for Toyota’s hybrid electric vehicles starting as soon as 2025. "Toyota could have chosen anywhere in the United States for this first battery plant and they chose us," said Gov Cooper (D-N.C.).
