ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man on felony rape charges. According to a press release, on November 23rd, 2021, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sexual offense. An investigation was started by the Criminal Investigations Division which resulted in charges being sought against Shawn Lee Willard for Felony Second Degree Forcible Rape and Felony Second Degree Forcible Sex Offense. On December 9th, 2021, Willard was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail where he was issued a $30,000 total secured bond. ASHEBORO N.C. - A man is in jail without bond today after police say he tried to attack family members with a knife but was subdued by the victims. That's according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office who said in a press release that on December 9th, 2021, deputies responded to Featherstone Ct., in Trinity, in reference to an armed person. Deputies say when they arrived the victims reported the male had attacked them with a kitchen knife, but that they had been able to subdue him until police arrived. Deputies placed the male whom they identified as William Edward Kuntz, under arrest. EMS responded to evaluate and treat Kuntz and the victims for their injuries. Image provided by RCSO On Monday, December 6, 2021, at approximately 10: 30 pm deputies responded to a Missing Person report on an address on Benny Lineberry Rd. in Climax, NC, Matthew Pierce reported that his 1-year-old child, Ava Pierce was taken by her mother, Roxanne Michelle Parson, during a visit on December 1, 2021. Parson’s parental rights had been terminated. An alert was sent out with anyone who had any information asked to call 911, the sheriff's office or crimestoppers. ASHEBORO N.C. - A woman has been charged in connection with a house fire back on Sunday in Asheboro. Thats according to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office who in a press release said that on November 28, 2021 they responded to the scene of a house fire at the request of the Fire Marshal Investigator. That investigation, a team effort between the Fire Marshal’s Office and the Criminal Investigations Detectives, determined that Laura Nicole Gunter had intentionally set fire to the home on Staleys Farm Rd., in Asheboro. Gunter was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail where the magistrate found probable cause for charge of Felony Fraudulently Burning Dwelling. Every five years, the Zoo is required to go through the entire application process to retain its accreditation. The AZA awarded accreditation to the Zoo following a rigorous inspection visit earlier in the year. Early this morning at just after 3 a.m. an officer with the Asheboro Police Department responded to a medical call at the Comfort Inn on E Dixie Dr. According to a police department the officer found Ricky Helms inside the business stating he didn't feel right. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two men from Raleigh were in jail this morning after being charged in connection with a stolen car and drugs. On the night of November 11th 2021, police responded to Matlab on Hwy 49 South. Officers with the departments S.E.T. team had located a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat that had been reported stolen out of Raleigh behind a warehouse at the business and had fled from police earlier in the day. On October 15, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received a tip about Kevin Lee Nunn that said he was receiving and distributing Child Sexual Abuse Material.Deputies along with agents from Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant was executed at Nunn’s home on November 5, 2021.The next day charges were sought for ten counts of Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. ASHEBORO NC – A man is in jail today after he led sheriff’s deputies on a high speed chase that ended in Montgomery County. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s office just after 11 PM on October 29th, 2021 they pulled over a driver just south of the Ulah Troy exit on I-73/74. Police say that as the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver sped off getting back onto I-73/74 heading south.A vehicle pursuit ensued, with speeds reading almost 100 mph according to law enforcement radio traffic. The driver took the Seagrove exit, where according to the Sheriff’s office he briefly stopped at the top of the exit ramp and a passenger fled on foot.
