Traffic Stops Finds Wanted Man, Drugs, and Gun

ASHEBORO NC - Police say the found drugs and a gun in the vehicle of a man with active warrants during a traffic stop near Asheboro last week. According to information from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on August 27th, 2021 deputies were called to assist the NC Highway Patrol. Troopers had pulled over a vehicle on I-73/74 near the Spero Rd. exit. Police say they identified the driver as Brandon Jamal Weaks. Police searched the vehicle and say the located marijuana, schedule II controlled substances, paraphernalia and a firearm. Weaks was placed under arrest and a check through Randolph County 911 found that Weaks had and Outstanding Order for Arrest for Failure to Appear out of Guilford County. Photo Provided by NC Zoo ASHEBORO NC – Last week the North Carolina Zoo celebrated 20 years of operating it’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. The Valerie H. Schindler Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (WRC) at the NC Zoo provides free, professional veterinary and rehabilitation services to sick, injured, or orphaned native North Carolina animals. The goal for the animals they treat is to be returned to the wild in a condition that will optimize their chances of survival after release. According to the NC Zoo the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center is the only one of its kind in U.S. zoos. The WRC is not open to the public, the animals in its care need as little human contact as possiable for a successful release into the wild. Steven Tyler Tuttle, White/Male, 5’08” tall / 190 lbs, 32 years of age, Blue eyes, Brown short hair He was last seen on Monday, May 31, 2021, in the area of Hinshaw Country Rd. in Liberty, NC. He was last seen wearing (an unknown color) t-shirt and gym shorts, and unknown brand or color tennis shoes. Tuttle has a tattoo on his left hand. ASHEBORO NC – A Grand Jury has indicted an Asheboro man in the 2019 overdose death of Amber Cox and her unborn child. Back on April 7th 2019 the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to an overdose at 1123 Ingram Dr. Asheboro NC. When they arrived they found Amber Leigh Cox unresponsive in what they said appeared to be a suspected heroin overdose. Police say the located evidence of recent drug use at the scene. Randolph County EMS arrived and attempted lifesaving procedures before pronouncing Cox and her unborn child deceased on the scene. Amber Cox was nine months pregnant at the time of her death. On August 12, 2021, at approximately 10:34 pm, the Randolph County Sheriff’s responded to a report of shots fired into a home on Old Mountain Rd. in Trinity. That's according to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. They say on on August 7, 2021, deputies pulled over a car on I-73/74 just south of the US 64 Bypass. While the deputy was speaking with the passenger, the driver was seen throwing something it into the tall grassy area on the side of the highway. ASHEBORO NC - Police arrested a suspect they say robbed a man at gunpoint on the side of the road in Asheboro last week. Just before noon on Wednesday, August 04th, 2021, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to the intersection of Brewer St and Spring St in Asheboro, after getting a call about an armed robbery. According to a police report when officers arrived they spoke with the victim who who told them a black Buick had stopped beside him while he was walking. Any student who was enrolled at the College between March 13, 2020 (the start of the COVID-19 pandemic) until the end of the Summer 2021 semester was eligible for the assistance. In addition to paying off outstanding student account balances, RCC has been able to help students through the pandemic by providing emergency financial assistance for such needs as food, housing, laptops, and internet access.
