ASHEBORO NC - Randolph County Public Health announced on Facebook today that they have new appointments for the COVID-19 available for the following dates: Wednesday, March 17 from 5-7 pmThursday, March 18 from 8:30-4:30Friday, March 19 from 8:30-4:30 These appointments are for anyone in Groups 1 - 3 which includes frontline healthcare workers, the elderly 65 and older, education workers, and frontline essential workers. Those in Group 4 who have a medical condition that puts them at higher risk and people who live in additional congregate settings are also eligible for the vaccine. The remaining part of Group 4, which includes other essential workers, will be eligible on April 7. ASHEBORO NC (RANDOLPH HEALTH)  – Due to the decreased COVID-19 activity in the area and admission of COVID-19 patients to our inpatient areas, Randolph Health is implementing new visitation guidelines. Beginning Monday, March 15th at 10 a.m. Randolph Health will accept limited visitors. New Visitation Guidelines: Visitors are only permitted during visiting hours (10 a.m. – 8 p.m.)Visitors needs to park in the parking garage and enter the facility through the Emergency Department.Before entering the facility, visitors will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms including a temperature check and symptom survey.If visitor COVID-19 screening is negative, they will be allowed to enter. Liberty Man Arrested On Trafficking Charges

ASHEBORO NC - A Liberty man was arrested in a parking lot in Staley on drug trafficking charges. That's according to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. They say on March 10th, 2021, the departments Vice and Narcotics Division concluded an investigation related to the distribution of Cocaine in the Liberty / Staley area. Detectives executed a search warrant at an address in Liberty. A search warrant was also executed on a vehicle that was parked at a business in Staley. During the search, detectives say they located and seized a trafficking amount of Cocaine, items of drug paraphernalia, and US Currency. ASHEBORO NC - - A paramedic had to be taken to the hospital for evaluation after being assaulted by a missing person Wednesday. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on March 10th, 2021, deputies were called to the area of Robbins Country Rd. in Trinity to check on someone.They located a man sitting on the front porch of the residence who was police say was apparently impaired by an unknown substance and unable to provide his name. Randolph County EMS responded to evaluate the subject. While EMS was providing medical care, the police say that the male subject assaulted a paramedic. LIBERTY NC.(NC DOT PRESS RELEASE)- State transportation maintenance crews need to close a section of N.C. 49 in Liberty for about two weeks to conduct an emergency replacement of a storm drain. The drain failed where it passes under the highway near South Valley Street on the eastern side of the town. Starting Monday, traffic will be detoured to follow East Dameron Avenue/Silk Hope Liberty Road, Hinshaw Shop Road and Staley Store Road/Town Country Road to access points on either side of the closure. ASHEBORO NC - A total of ten vehicles were involved in three separate, but related crashes, this morning on I-73 near Vision Drive. According to a press release by the NC Highway Patrol, at 6:19 AM on Monday, March 1st, 2021, troopers responded to I-73 near Vision Drive to a report of multiple vehicle accidents.  According to an official statement, the incident started when Ronald Wheeler, 60, of Albemarle N.C., was traveling north in a 2012 Peterbilt tractor-trailer in the left lane. (Trexler Trucking, Inc. is listed as the registered owner). Deizer Hernandez, 27, of Biscoe N.C., was traveling north in a 2005 Nissan passenger car in the right lane. DENTON NC - The Amber Alert issued for a missing 14-year-old from Davidson County has been canceled after she was located and will be returning to North Carolina after a harrowing experience.  Savannah Childress, was reported missing on Feb. 11 from her home in southern Davidson County. An Amber Alert was issued on Feb 15th  Investigators had discovered that Savannah was using her Davidson County Schools issued computer to communicate with an individual using multiple online platforms. As the investigation progressed investigators discovered the same individual was also talking to several other juvenile females in Alamance County. ASHEBORO NC - Officials have released the name of the victim of a fatal house fire in Denton on Thursday. According to a statement from the Randolph County Sheriff's office fire crews from Randolph and Davidson counties were called to a report of a house fire at 7026 Canaan Church Rd., in Denton. Initial reports from 911 calls indicated someone was possibly still inside the house. Fire crews arrived to find the home heavily involved with fire. While working to put out the fire, firefighters found the body of a male in the living room of the home. investigators with the Randolph County Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the fire was accidental and caused by an electric space heater.
