ASHEBORO N.C. - Last night deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal stabbing at a home in Thomasville. On March 29, 2022, at around 10:00 pm, the deputies were called to a home on Reddy Foxx Ln. in Thomasville after getting a call about a stabbing. Police say when they arrived the located a man on the porch of the home suffering from stab wounds. The victim, who police identified as Randy Hunt, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The resident, Fred Thomas Dyles, Jr., who was also the one who called 911, identified the victim as his neighbor. Dyles reported that Hunt had attempted to break into his home and he had stabbed him. ASHEBORO N.C. - Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Raleigh have issued a hazardous weather outlook warning of possible severe thunderstorms, strong winds, and localized flooding for Wednesday. Almost all of central North Carolina including the Triad was placed under a level 2 "slight risk" by the Storm Prediction Center. Meteorologist say Wednesday afternoon, likely around 3 pm, is when they expect to see the greatest threat of severe weather. The annual Easter Eggstravaganza is a free family friendly event hosted by the City of Asheboro's Cultural & Recreation Services. ASHEBORO N.C. - Schools, daycares, government offices, and businesses are set to participate in a statewide tornado drill this wednesday. The Statewide Tornado Drill is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at 9:30 AM. The drill, a part of national severe weather week is a program between the National Weather Service and ReadyNC.gov, a service of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. Designed to give people in the state a chance to review and participate in a tornado drill ahead of the upcoming tornado season. In the last 10 years North Carolina has seen 380 tornados according to data from the National Weather Service, 97 of those resulted in property damage, with 32 deaths, and 554 injuries. In a press release the hospital says that "due to the decreased COVID-19 activity in the area and admission of COVID-19 patients to our inpatient areas, Randolph Health is implementing new visitation guidelines beginning on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 7 a.m." New Visitation Guidelines Visiting Hours will be from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.Visitors must 12 years of age or older.Visitors should enter the hospital through the Emergency Department. The fight took place Sunday night/Monday morning sometime after 1am at the Asheboro bar and restaurant. The ordeal was captured on video and later posted on Facebook. Broken up into stories with some posted out of order, the video shows how the fight starts as well as the fight itself and the aftermath of broken glass and knocked over tables and chairs. ASHEBORO N.C. - A period of light freezing rain this morning has triggered closing and delays across Randolph County. As of this morning both Asheboro City Schools as well as Randolph County Schools have announced they will be closed today. Randolph Community College is set to operate on a two hour delay. RCAT for Randolph County has also announced that they will not be operating today.
