PRESS RELEASE - ASHEBORO CITY SCHOOLS The Asheboro City Schools Food Truck will return this summer!Starting the week of June 20, the ACS Food Truck will visit two locations in Asheboro to provide FREE meals to children and teens, ages 0-18. Monday- Friday, the ACS Food Truck will be posted at Franklin Village from 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. and then it will travel to Coleridge Road Apartments from 12:30 - 1 p.m.Please note - Due to federal mandates, all meals are to be eaten at the Food Truck. "Grab and go" meals will not be permitted.

Then you will want to check out the Asheboro Fire Department's upcoming Fire Explorer Program. The program will be from 6-7, starting on Wednesday April 20th, 2022 and meet every other week. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Board of Elections says they are in urgent need of people to work as election officials during the upcoming election. According to Melissa Johnson, Director of the Randolph County Board of Elections, they are in urgent need of election workers on Election Day, May 17, 2022, as well as during early voting from April 28-May 14. “With the primary election moving from March to May 17th, some of our usual workers could not rearrange their schedules to work this election. Others have gotten jobs or have health issues or other reasons why they cannot serve during this election. ASHEBORO N.C. - The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NC DOT) which operates the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV), has announced there has been a settlement in the class-action lawsuit filed back in May of 2018 by several groups including the ACLU on behalf of drivers who lost their licenses because they didn’t pay fines. Over the next 60 days the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (NC DMV) will be contacting more than 185,000 drivers whose licenses were revoked for their failure to pay fines and other court costs. A special notice will inform drivers about their ability under North Carolina General Statute § 20-24.1 to have the NCDMV lift those revocations if the sentencing court finds their failure to pay was not willful and was instead due to their inability to affo...

Department of Transportation is putting tethered drones on Incident Management Assistance Patrol (IMAP) vehicles in order to assist first responders and get a birds eye view of an area. The North Carolina Incident Management Assistance Patrol (IMAP) program and the Division of Aviation's Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) program recently helped develop and deploy the tethered drones system from select IMAP vehicles. In a statement issued today the State Board of Elections says they are "reminding North Carolina residents that state and county election officials will never go door-to-door conducting any type of election business." Department of Revenue (NC DOR) announced that they won’t begin processing 2021 tax year returns until mid-February, several weeks after the start of the tax season. In a press release NC DOR says the delay is due to the late approval of the state budget, which included multiple changes to the state’s tax law. The later start date allows NC DOR time to complete the updates for new tax laws for commercial tax preparation software. You may be able to submit your state taxes at the same time as your federal taxes but only if your tax preparation software has been updated for the upcoming year. NC DOR says early submissions will be considered as filed on the date transmitted, even though there will be a delay in processing. ...
