(Scott P / Acme News) ASHEBORO N.C. - Two people were found dead at an Asheboro home this afternoon after officers responded to a call for a shooting according to Police. On September 26th, 2022, just after 1pm officers from the Asheboro Police Department’s Patrol Division were dispatched to 337 Hamlin Street Asheboro in reference to a shooting. According to a press release from the Police Department, when officers arrived, they located two victims deceased. Credit - East Side Fire Department (Facebook) ASHEBORO N.C. - A large area of Asheboro is without power at the moment due to a tree taking down primary power lines on Hwy 42. In a post on Facebook the East Side Fire Department is reporting they are on the scene around the 500 block of Highway 42 S where a large tree has fallen and taken down primary power lines. The outage includes Highway 42, Eastwood Dr., Briarcliff Dr., and has also impacted the stop lights at Highway 42 and E. Dixie Dr. Use caution in the area. [Scott Pelkey | Acme News] ASHEBORO N.C. - An armed man was taken to the hospital this evening after being shot by deputies who had responded for a welfare check. According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 5:00 pm deputies responded to awelfare check on Cable Creek Rd., in Asheboro. A press release says when deputies arrived a male subject exited the residence with a firearm before retreating into the residence, then fleeing out the back on foot, still armed. Deputies set up a perimeter and residents within a mile radius were alerted by Randolph Communication’s community notification system that the Sheriff’s Office was searching for an armed subject in the area, giving a description and warning to use caution. Police investigate a shooting late during the night on Monday Aug 1st 2022 [Scott Pelkey | Acme News] ASHEBORO N.C. - Investigators with the Asheboro Police Department spent the night piecing together what led to shots being fired at Frazier Park last night. On August 1st, 2022, just after 10pm, patrol officers with the Asheboro Police Department were dispatched to Frazier Park, located at 517 West Wainman Avenue, after receiving a call about shots fired in the area. When officers arrived, they located a juvenile and a male identified as Heleodoro Juarez-Garcia in the park. ASHEBORO N.C. - Just after 5:30pm the Asheboro Fire Department was dispatched to a smoke alarm at 857 Albemarle Rd, a vacant structure between the Quality Inn and Roadway Inn (former Motel 6). When firefighters arrived the reported a commercial structure with smoke showing from the structure. An intal search was conducted the building was reported clear. Within 30-45 mins crews were ventilating the building to remove the smoke. No injuries were reported and the cause is unknown at this time. ASHEBORO N.C. - At around 5:30 pm firefighters with the Asheboro Fire Department were called to 554 E Dixie Dr in Asheboro. A 911 caller reported a pick-up truck at the back of the carwash next the Cookout was on fire. When crews arrived they found an older model Chevrolet Silverado 2500 on fire at the back of the parking lot near Cox Ave. The fire was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is not yet know.

The Randolph County Sheriff's Office says on Saturday, June 25th, 2022, they responded to Ridge Rd in Seagrove after receiving a 911 call regarding an alleged self-inflicted gunshot wound. They identified the victim as 37-year-old MJ (Mishael James) Auman, and say he was transported to an area hospital by emergency personnel where he succumbed to his injuries. RANDLEMAN N.C. - A bicyclist was airlifted in critical condition this evening after being struck while crossing the street in front of Sir Pizza in Randleman. According to officials on the scene at 6:42 pm Randolph County 911 dispatched the Randleman Police and Fire Departments along with Randolph County EMS to 413 S Main St. A 911 caller reported a bicyclist who was crossing the street was struck by a vehicle. Randleman firefighters arrived on scene at 6:45 pm, just 3 minutes after they were dispatched, and the victim was transported to the practice field located behind Randleman High School where UNC Air Care landed to pick up the patient. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Asheboro Police Department says two suspects of a possible home invasion were injured after the homeowner opened fire, hitting them both this morning. This morning just after 4:30 am, officers with the Asheboro Police Department's patrol division were dispatched to the area of Underwood Street in reference to a 911 hang-up call. The officers learned from 911 that there was a subject with a gunshot wound nearby at 1634 Traci Street. When officers arrived on Traci Street they located a male at the rear of the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, on May 16, 2022, at 10:22 am, officers and first responders were dispatched to a stabbing at Wendy’s, located at 623 West Dixie Drive Asheboro. According to the police department the incident started as a fight between two employees, which resulted in both employees stabbing one another.
