Gov Cooper Visits Vaccine Clinic at NC Zoo

https://youtu.be/qw0DFLT0tdw ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper made a stop at the NC Zoo today to take a look at the Zoo's vaccine clinic, and of course to see a few animals. The vaccine clinic toured by the Governor is one of two clinics that the NC Zoo is hosting as of NCDHHS’ Bring Summer Back campaign. So far, more than 220 organizations have joined the Bring Back Summer campaign, which has reached an estimated 1.3 million North Carolinians. One Dead, Two Injured In Asheboro Shooting

Investigators with the Randolph County Sheriffs Office and Asheboro Police Department investigate a fatal shooting on Plummer St overnight. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - On Saturday, April 3, 2021, Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shooting on Plummer Street in Asheboro. The arriving officers found three subjects at the home, all with gunshot wounds. According to a statement by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, 27-year old Robert Lewis Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other subjects were transported to nearby trauma hospitals. One subject is currently in surgery and the other is in stable condition. ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - Randolph Hospital's Emergency Room was briefly placed on lockdown Sunday night after a large crowd gathered at the entrance where a victim was being treated following a shooting. According to police radio traffic, officers with the Asheboro Police Department at the Emergency Room requested backup to help with controlling a crowd of between 50-100 people growing angry and confrontational. Officers with the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, Randleman Police Department, and State Highway Patrol responded  emergency traffic. The Randolph County Sherriff's Office ERT (SWAT) team was alerted with some members also responded to the hospital. According to Mark Lineberry, Chief of the Asheboro Police Department, an officer was responding to a domestic call where there was a suspect who was possibly armed with a weapon. According to Chief DJ Semrad with the Liberty Police Department, at approximately 2:40 pm on Thursday officers with Liberty PD responded to a 911 call for an alleged assault and domestic situation at 209 W Raleigh Ave. The officers noted injuries on the victim and the suspect, Kenneth Powell who was reportedly armed. Powell barricaded himself in a room of the house. Warrants for Assault on a Female and Resist, Delay, Obstruct a Law Enforcement Officer were secured. The Randolph County SIRT team was asked to assist with the situation.
