ASHEBORO N.C. - The Ramseur Police Department is asking for help from the public to gather information in an investigation after responding to a seriously injured person found in theroadway. On November 21st, 2022, at about 6:15 AM, officers responded to a seriously injured person found in the roadway on US Hwy 64 at the intersection on Liberty St. View Larger Map "After exhausting all leads to this point, we are asking anyone who was in the area and observed anything to contact us. You may contact Capt Jessup or Officer Smith at 336-824-8663," said the department in a press release. Information may also be submitted by calling Randolph County Crime Stoppers or submitting a tip through the P3 Tips app. A reward may be considered for information leading to an arrest.

ASHEBORO N.C. - One man was arrested after leading police on a short chase just after midnight on Monday in Asheboro. According to a police report from the Asheboro Police Department just after midnight on November 28th, 2022, an officer attempted to pull over a on a silver passenger vehicle due to the odor of marijuana near Dublin Rd and NC Hwy 42. The driver refused to pull over and fled the stop leading police on a 3.2 mile vehicle pursuit. Police identified the driver as Tirrell McDonald, who was arrested and charged with Felony Flee to Elude, Failing to heed lights and siren, resisting a public officer, simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, left of center, and fail to stop at a steady red light. Sometime on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022, the Confederate statute that sits in front of the historic courthouse on Worth St in Asheboro was vandalized with spray-paint. “Unknown Shooting” Leaves Two Injured in Asheboro

ASHEBORO N.C. - Police are investigating what they are calling an "unknown" shooting in the early hours of the morning that left two injured. On November 28, 2022 at approximately 1:02 am officers with the Asheboro Police Department were dispatched to Bennett Street in reference to an unknown gunshot call for service.  Upon arrival officers located a Hispanic male victim, and a white female victim who sustained wounds as a result of the incident. Police say that both victims were transported to out of county medical facilities for further medical treatment.  The female victim was stabilized, treated, and released.  The status of the Hispanic male victim is unknown at this time.  This is currently an ongoing investigation by the Asheboro Police Depa...

Photos provided by Asheboro Police Department ASHEBORO N.C. - Several patrol vehicles belonging to the Asheboro Police Department were vandalized with spray paint over the weekend. According to a report from the Asheboro Police Department around 3 pm on Saturday Nov 26th, 2022, a detective noticed and reported that 6 patrol vehicles in the parking lot adjacent to the station on E Academy Street had been vandalized with spray-paint. Police say that the patrol vehicles in the lot were spare vehicles and that the Criminal Investigations Division is currently investigating the case. No information on motive or suspect(s) has been release at this time.

ASHEBORO N.C. - Two men from California were arrested this week after deputies with the Sheriff's Office stopped their Tractor Trailer on I-85. On November 21, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Highway Criminal InterdictionTeam pulled over a Tractor Trailer registered out of California on I-85 in Archdale. During that traffic stop, a K-9 alerted and a deputies searched the truck where according to a press release approximately 230 pounds of marijuana was located and seized. On Nov 19th, 2022, Randolph County 911 dispatched fire crews and deputies from the Randolph County Sheriff's office to Foster St. after receiving a call about a female lighting leaves on fire in the side ditch near a residence. ASHEBORO N.C. - A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle and died on scene on I-73 last Friday has been identified by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. At 9:36 p.m. on Friday, November 18 th , 2022, the State Highway Patrol responded to the report of a crash that occurred on I-73 southbound near Pineview Road in Randolph County. Nestor Aroldo Oliveros Ramos, 41, of Lexington, N.C., was traveling as a pedestrian west across I-73 when he was struck by an SUV traveling south. The driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian and Ramos died on scene. Investigators believe that Ramos was under the influence of alcohol when he was struck. According to police reports from the Asheboro Police Department police responded to three separate calls for service between Nov 11th and Nov 14th, 2022, for vehicle thefts/break-ins. On November 11th, 2022, an officer responded to Chapel Gate Ln for an attempted larceny of a motor vehicle. Asheboro Police Responded to Shots Fired Last Weekend

ASHEBORO N.C. - Over the weekend Asheboro Police responded to a call about shots fired just a block away from the police station. According to a police report from the Asheboro Police Department, on Nov 12th, 2022, officers responded to the area of S Fayetteville St. and W. Academy St. in reference to a report of shots fired. Randolph County 911 advised that the occupants of two vehicles, a white passenger car and a black passenger car, were shooting at each other as the vehicles were traveling on the roadway. Officers saturated the area but did not locate either vehicle or any victims. A police sergeant located eleven spent 9mm shell casings in the roadway which were placed into evidence. Anyone with information is asked to contact Randolph County Crime Stoppers.
