Driver & Passenger Asleep at Intersection – Drugs, Alcohol, Gun Located, Says RCSO

TRINITY N.C. - A driver is facing felony drug charges and misdemeanor DUI and gun charges after police say they found him and his passenger asleep at an intersection in a running vehicle. On October 20th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to the intersection of NC Hwy 62 and Surrett Dr., in Trinity, for a welfare check on a vehicle stopped at an intersection with the driver slumped over at the wheel. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, when the deputy approached the vehicle they smelled the "strong odor of marijuana and alcohol emitting from the vehicle and an open bottle of alcohol was observed in the backseat of the vehicle." Sex Offender Charged for Being on School Grounds

ASHEBORO N.C. - A registered sex offender has been arrested and charged after the Sheriff's Office was notified he had been on school grounds. On October 12th, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office SRO was notified that ChristopherTimothy Ward, a registered sex offender, had been on a school campus. Ward, who currently resides in Thomasville, was convicted in 2010 for two counts of Indecent Liberties with a Minor. Under NC law certain registered sex offenders are prohibited from being in, at, or near certain places. Sheriff’s Office Arrests NY Man After Locating Over $10,000 in Stolen Items

ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office's Highway Criminal Interdiction Team arrested a New York man last week after they say the located over $10,000 of stolen items in the vehicle. According to a press release, on October 6th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Highway Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop on I-85 in Archdale. During that stop deputies were able to search the vehicle and say they located marijuana, several fraudulent identity cards, and over $10,000 in fraudulently purchased power equipment. Sex Offender Arrested for Being on School Grounds

ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office says they have arrested a registered sex offender who was on school grounds in Randolph County several times late last month. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, on September 26th, 2023, the Sheriff’s Office's Sex Offender Registry Detective was notified that Michael Delano Foster of Davidson County, a registered sex offender, had been on school grounds in Randolph County. According to the NC State Bureau of Investigations Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry, Foster was convicted in 2006 for two sexual offenses involving a minor under the age of thirteen in Guilford County. Woman Arrested for Felony Trafficking After Police Locate 8lbs of Heroin

RANDLEMAN N.C. - A Virginia woman has been arrested and is facing felony trafficking charges after police say the located over eight pounds of heroin in her vehicle. On September 30th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 73/74 in Randleman. According to a press release, during that traffic stop deputies searched the vehicle and say they located and seized approximately 8 ½ pounds of heroin. The suspect, identified by the Sheriff's Office as Lori Kristen Price of Roanoke, VA, was arrested and transported to Randolph County Jail. Stolen Motorcycle Leads Police on Chase – Charges Catch up with Driver

ASHEBORO N.C. - Charges are catching up with the driver of a stolen motorcycle with active warrants who fled from police late last month. In a press release the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says that on September 22nd, 2023, a deputy attempted to pull over a motorcycle on Turnpike Rd., in Archdale, but the driver failed to stop leading to a pursuit. Criminal Apprehension Team Arrests Suspect from Pursuit

ASHEBORO N.C. - This week the Randolph County Sheriff's Office Criminal Apprehension Team located and arrested a suspect from a vehicle pursuit that occurred back in July. According to a press release, on July 13th, 2023, a Deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle with a fictitious tag and attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver fled leading to a vehicle pursuit. ASHEBORO N.C. - The AMBER Alert for a kidnapped 9-year-old from Asheboro has been canceled after the child was located unharmed and the suspect arrested. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, at approximately 6:38 am this morning, officers responded to a home on Powhatan Avenue in Asheboro, for a report of a kidnapping.
