ASHEBORO N.C. - Off parole for less than three months, a 23-year-old suspect is again facing multiple felony gun, drug, and fleeing charges after leading police from two counties on a nearly hour long pursuit early Sunday morning. In the early morning hours of September 3rd, 2023, a deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s was patrolling on US Hwy 220 S, near Asheboro, when they spotted a motorcycle with no license plate that shut off its lights off and made a turn on Crestview Church Rd. ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect allegedly driving a stolen vehicle tried to flee from police earlier this week but ended up crashing into a truck and being arrested. On August 29th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, who were tracking a vehicle reported stolen out of Lexington that had entered Randolph County. Randolph County deputies located the vehicle in the area of Meadowbrook Rd. and Kennedy Farm Rd. and attempted to pull over the driver. ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect wanted in a sex crime case in Colorado was located and arrested in Asheboro last week. On August 24th, 2023, a detective with the Boulder Police Department in Boulder, Colorado, contacted the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) about locating Nehemias Lopez, who was wanted on a Felony Sexual Assault-Physically Helpless charge.   Boulder Police Department had been actively looking for Lopez for several months and believed that Lopez had fled from Colorado to Asheboro, NC. ASHEBORO N.C. - A Randolph County Deputy chased a vehicle on foot that was trying to flee and arrested the driver who was likely feeling a bit of déjà vu. On August 21st, 2023, while performing routine patrol in the area of Little Gate Dr., in Asheboro, a deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office spotted a vehicle parked beside the railroad tracks. On August 20th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 85 north near mile marker 109, in Trinity. During that stop, officers say they located approximately forty-four pounds of cocaine in the "trunk area" of the vehicle. On October 14th, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into suspected embezzlement after receiving a report from a local community baseball club. According to a press release, that investigation led to investigators charging 37-year-old Jesse Lee Martin from Denton, NC, with one count of Felony Embezzlement on August 10th, 2023. According to court records, Martin is accused of embezzling $3,600 from the Cedar Grove Baseball Club, a local little league organization. On July 23, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Thayer Rd., Trinity, in reference to an armed person who had fired a gun at a residence following an altercation. SEAGROVE N.C. - One person was arrested after a short vehicle chase ended in a crash in Seagrove last week. According to J. Auman Chief of Police for the Seagrove Police Department, just after 2 p.m. on July 17th, 2023, while on patrol in the town, he ran a tag on a vehicle that came back as ficticious. Chief Auman says when he attempted to pull over the driver on Little River Road near Boone Farm Rd, the suspect failed to yield, leading to a brief vehicle pursuit. The chase ended after only around one mile when the driver lost control and crashed into an embankment while making a turn from Little River Rd on to Old Troy Rd.
