At 6:53 a.m. West-Side Fire & Rescue along with Ash-Rand Rescue, and Randolph County EMS were dispatched to NC 49, near Oak Hollow Drive for a two-vehicle accident. First responders arrived to find a two-vehicle accident with multiple patients, including one patient who was pinned-in a vehicle. The North Carolina Highway was notified and responded to investigate the crash. Just after 3 a.m. Randolph County 911 dispatched Farmer Fire Department and Ash-Rand Rescue to the intersection of Moore Rd and Old NC Hwy 49 for a report of a vehicle trapped in three feet of water. Dispatch advised a short time later that the call was plotting closer to the intersection of Moore Rd and Golden Meadow Rd. [Scott Pelkey | North State Journal] ASHEBORO N.C. - The driver of a grey SUV was taken to the hospital this evening after crashing into the side of the Verizon store in Asheboro. Just before 7pm on April 10th, 2023, Randolph County 911 dispatched emergency crews to 1304 E Dixie Dr, in Asheboro, for a report of a vehicle crash. Callers reported a vehicle had gone down an embankment and crashed into the side of the Verizon store on E Dixie Dr. Asheboro Fire and Police, Westside Fire, Eastside Fire, Franklinville Fire, Ash-Rand Rescue, and Randolph County EMS all responded to the scene. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Asheboro Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of its own today. Chris Hoover was with the department for 24 years rising to the rank of Battalion Chief while also a member of the Tabernacle Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years, and Ash-Rand Rescue. Hoover sadly lost his battle with COVID-19 on January 8th 2022. On Sunday firefighters with Asheboro made the trip up to UNC Medical Center to bring back his casket. Along the route back fellow firefighters across the state came out to show their respect for our fallen hero. The Asheboro Fire Department issued the following press release today. ASHEBORO NC — It was quite the weekend for a local family after fire and rescue crews were called to help free a horse from a muddy pond. Aaliyah Ratcliffe had went to a family friend’s to purchase another horse and ended up also getting 7 yeay-old Rose as a rescue. “We are taking her on as pair.” said Ratcliffe, “I’m helping with the journey of getting her back to health.” Rose had only been in her new pasture for 30 minutes, “She was put in a small paddock that had a pond on one end” said Ratcliffe, “she tried to cross the grassy area of it, and I believe she didn’t think it was mush underneath.” Ratcliffe said the horse had only been stuck a few minutes before they noticed and started calling for help. “We first called a lot of our neighbors”, Ratcliffe said, “everyone has horse e...
