Kidnapped Child in Asheboro Located, Suspect Arrested

ASHEBORO N.C. - The AMBER Alert for a kidnapped 9-year-old from Asheboro has been canceled after the child was located unharmed and the suspect arrested. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, at approximately 6:38 am this morning, officers responded to a home on Powhatan Avenue in Asheboro, for a report of a kidnapping. A grandmother reported to police that Darrell Milton Boyd Jr. had entered the residence and left with her 9-year-old granddaughter. An AMBER Alert was issued, and an arrest warrant was issued for Boyd. At approximately 10:00 am, officers received information indicating that Boyd was possibly in the area of Kiger Rd in Germanton, NC. Nearly 30,000 Fentanyl Pills Seized in Search Warrant

TRINITY N.C. - A search warrant issued as a part of a joint investigation located nearly 30,000 Fentanyl pills at a home in Trinity and landed one person in jail. On August 9th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice Unit and Criminal Interdiction Team, Asheboro Police Department’s Vice Unit, and the Department of Homeland Security's Investigation division (HSI), executed a search warrant on a residence located at 6503 Bellawood Dr. in Trinity. According to a press release, that search located approximately 28,400 Fentanyl pills that weighed approximately 12.5 pounds, along with U.S. Currency. As a result, Robert Gurung was arrested and transported to Randolph County Jail where the magistrate found probable cause for the multiple felony drug and trafficking charges. ...

One Airlifted After Vehicle Strikes Pedestrian on E Dixie Dr

[Scott Pelkey | North State Journal] ASHEBORO N.C. - One person was airlifted with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle on E Dixie Dr last Friday. On Friday, July 28th, 2023, at around 7:30 pm, emergency crews were called to the scene of a vehicle collision where a pedestrian was struck on E Dixie Dr near Zaxby's. According to an accident report from the Asheboro Police Department, a 2005 Nissan SUV was traveling west on E Dixie Dr near Executive Way when a pedestrian stepped into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle. Two Arrested for Stealing from Store, Drive by Shooting in Front of Police

ASHEBORO N.C. - Two adult suspects who allegedly stole from a local convince store and later conducted a drive by shooting in front of two police officers, were arrested last week according to police reports. On Tuesday July 18th, 2023, at around 9:30 pm, police were notified of a larceny at the Quik Chek store on Sunset Ave in Asheboro. Search Warrant at Asheboro Apartment finds Drugs, One Arrested

According to a police report from the department, on June 28th, 2023, the VICE/Narcotics along with members of the Special Enforcment Team executed a search warrant at Summer Run apartments located at 2159 N. Fayetteville St. That search led to police seizing 145 grams of cocaine, US Currency, and drug paraphernalia. ASHEBORO N.C. - Monday morning police responded to several break-ins of vehicles at a north Asheboro apartment complex including a stolen vehicle which led to a vehicle pursuit into Greensboro. If all that sounds familiar it's because the same thing happened late last year at and near the same apartment complex. Early Monday morning, just before 3am, officers with the Asheboro Police Department say they were responding to a report of a stolen vehicle at Mathew Grande Apartments, on N.
