ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect led Asheboro police on a brief chase before crashing into several vehicles at a local auto repair shop and fleeing the scene earlier this week.  According to a report from the Asheboro Police Department, in the early morning hours of November 15th, 2023, at around 2:30 a.m., an officer on patrol attempted to pull over a silver in color passenger car on E Presnell St. Police say the driver failed to stop leading to a short vehicle chase.  That chase ended after the driver lost control and crashed into several vehicles at Goldston’s Auto Repair on Gold Hill Rd. ASHEBORO N.C. - A man was arrested yesterday afternoon after police say he robbed the First Bank in Asheboro. On November 14th, 2023, just before 4 p.m. officers responded to First Bank in Asheboro located at 335 S. Fayetteville St., for a report of an armed robbery.  According to a press release by the Asheboro Police Department, a white male suspect passed a note demanding money. According to police reports on Oct 6th, 2023, at around 7 p.m., an officer responded to the Randolph Mall for a report of a fraud. An employee at a business inside the mall told officers that a male had come into the business and paid with a counterfeit $100 dollar bill. While at the mall, the officer was notified by security that another business in the mall was reporting receiving a counterfeit bill from a male. According to a vehicle accident report completed by the Asheboro Police Department, on September 11th, 2023, at around 3 p.m., an officer was towing the trailer on US-220 Bus when the trailer came unattached from the vehicle, impacted the roadway, and rolled for approximately fifty feet before coming to a rest on the side of the roadway. ASHEBORO N.C. - The AMBER Alert for a kidnapped 9-year-old from Asheboro has been canceled after the child was located unharmed and the suspect arrested. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, at approximately 6:38 am this morning, officers responded to a home on Powhatan Avenue in Asheboro, for a report of a kidnapping. A grandmother reported to police that Darrell Milton Boyd Jr. had entered the residence and left with her 9-year-old granddaughter. TRINITY N.C. - A search warrant issued as a part of a joint investigation located nearly 30,000 Fentanyl pills at a home in Trinity and landed one person in jail. On August 9th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice Unit and Criminal Interdiction Team, Asheboro Police Department’s Vice Unit, and the Department of Homeland Security's Investigation division (HSI), executed a search warrant on a residence located at 6503 Bellawood Dr. in Trinity. According to a press release, that search located approximately 28,400 Fentanyl pills that weighed approximately 12.5 pounds, along with U.S. Currency. As a result, Robert Gurung was arrested and transported to Randolph County Jail where the magistrate found probable cause for the multiple felony drug and trafficking charges. ...
