ASHEBORO N.C. - One person is in jail after Asheboro Police were called to a report of a shooting in an Asheboro neighborhood late Monday night. On April 24th, 2023, at around 10:30 pm, officers responded to a home on Chestnut St for a report of gun shots being heard in the area. While officers were responding Randolph County 911 reported they were taking a call for a possible gunshot wound from the same incident. When officers arrived on scene, they saw a suspect walking next to the roadway holding a handgun in their right-hand walking away from the scene of the shooting. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two people were taken to the hospital overnight after crashing into another car while thier vehicle was being shot at according to police. At around 10:45 pm on April 16th, 2023, officers were called to Coleridge Rd in Asheboro for a report of gunshots fired in the area. While officers were enroute they were advised that multiple shots had been fired at a vehicle which led to it crashing into another vehicle. 911 operators advised one of the callers said they had been shot and were still in the vehicle, according to a police report. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers the misuse of opioid medications an epidemic. Proper disposal of expired, unused, and unneeded medications from the home is a crucial element of a strategy for promoting public health and safety. Each day, approximately 2,500 teenagers use prescription drugs to get high for the first time. ASHEBORO N.C. - On person has been transported to the hospital in serious condition after being shot earlier this afternoon in a neighborhood near Sunset Ave in Asheboro. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, on April 11th, 2023, at 12:58 PM, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to the Quick Check at 509 Sunset Avenue in reference to a victim on the sidewalk of the store suffering from a small caliber gunshot wound to the lower torso. Randolph County EMS and Asheboro Fire/Rescue Department responded to the scene and the victim was transported to an out of county medical facility by Randolph County EMS for further medical treatment. According to a report by the Asheboro Police Department on March 20th, 2023, at 11:57pm, officers responded to Ravenwood Dr located in the Franklin Village Mobile Home Park off North Fayetteville St in North Asheboro after receiving a report of a robbery. Officers spoke with the victim who stated he was working as a surveyor in the area for USIC, an underground utility company. On March 22nd, 2023, the Asheboro Police Departments VICE/ Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at a home in Asheboro. During that search police say they located approximately 17.2 grams of crack cocaine, Suboxone strips, assorted drug paraphernalia, and $336. 92 in US currency. According to information released by the Asheboro Police Department, on March 21st, 2023, just before 8:30 am, officers responded to 1928 Dennis Street in reference to a gunshot/assault. When police arrived on scene they determined the victim, Jareem Xavier McBryde, had been taken to a local medical facility by his girlfriend. On February 22nd, 2023, just before 6:30 pm, an officer with the Asheboro Police Department was called to the McDonald's at 1436 N Fayetteville St for a report of a male and female slumped over in a vehicle in the parking lot.
