Two Arrested Near Ag Site for Stealing Telephone Wire

ASHEBORO N.C. - Two people were arrested last week near the Randolph County Agricultual Site for allegedly stealing telephone wire in the area. Last week, on December 8th, 2022, deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office were patrolling on US Hwy 64 E, just outside the Asheboro city limits when they observed a vehicle pulling out from a trail that leads to the future site of the Randolph County Agricultural Center. According to the Sheriff's Office deputies were aware that there had been several larcenies reported in the area in recent months, including recent theft of telephone wire. Already in Jail for Vehicle Theft, Man Charged With ‘Burning Public Building’ for DMV Fire

ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office announced several charges against a local man related to an intentional fire set at a DMV office and deputies didn't have to go far to find him as he was already in jail accused of stealing a car. On November 24, 2022, at around 5 pm, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Office on US Hwy 220 Bus. S., Asheboro, after receiving a call about breaking & entering and larceny. ASHEBORO N.C. - The North Carolina Zoo is offering free admission to residents of Moore County affected by the recent power outages. According to the Moore County Edition of the North State Journal on Saturday, Dec. 3, Moore County saw two substations attacked, leaving over 40,000 customers without power. Just after 7 pm, customers across Moore County started seeing power outages. As utility companies sent our crews, they found evidence that indicated that intentional vandalism had occurred at multiple sites. In recent police reports we know that between November 17th and 18th Asheboro Police responded to a fight-in-progress and a student in possession of marijuana at Asheboro High School, and a fight at North Asheboro Middle School. ASHEBORO N.C. - Police in Asheboro investigating a possible vehicle break-in at a local apartment complex found themselves in a vehicle chase. Now police are asking for information from the public to help identify the suspects as well as solve a string of vehicle break-ins. “Unknown Shooting” Leaves Two Injured in Asheboro

ASHEBORO N.C. - Police are investigating what they are calling an "unknown" shooting in the early hours of the morning that left two injured. On November 28, 2022 at approximately 1:02 am officers with the Asheboro Police Department were dispatched to Bennett Street in reference to an unknown gunshot call for service. Upon arrival officers located a Hispanic male victim, and a white female victim who sustained wounds as a result of the incident. Police say that both victims were transported to out of county medical facilities for further medical treatment. The female victim was stabilized, treated, and released.
