Youth Golf Lessons The lessons are open to any youth golfer between 6 and 14 years of age. Participants will be able to choose between two sessions. Session one will be held June 16th, 22nd and 23rd Session two will take place on July 12th, 19th and 21st. Lessons are offered from 8:00am - 9:30am each day. The cost for each session is $15 for city residents with a current Rec-Card or $20 for non-residents. According to Master Trooper Brian Martin, Troop D Public Information Officer with the Highway Patrol, the Collision Reconstruction Unit is on-scene investigating a previous fatal collision and requested assistance from the fire department to shut down the exit ramp (not the interstate) so that they could map the scene with a drone. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two children died, and a their mother was seriously injured overnight in a vehicle crash on I-73, north of Asheboro. Just before 1 a.m, on Monday May 30th 2022, first responders with Westside Fire Department and Randolph County EMS were dispatched to an unknown vehicle accident on I-73/74 northbound, at the Spero Rd exit. As dispatchers gathered more information they learned it was a single vehicle accident with two children severely injured. Dispatchers added an additional 2 ambulances as well as Ash-Rand Rescue, and notified Baptist Air Care. No Injuries After Fire At Asheboro Furniture Plant

Firefighters with the Asheboro Fire Department on the scene of a fire at a local Furniture plant on May 26th 2022.. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) ASHEBORO N.C. - Early this afternoon firefighters with the Asheboro Fire Department responded to a report of a pile of sawdust on fire at a local Furniture plant. According to Samantha East, Public Information Officer with the Asheboro Fire Department, at 11:46 am, crews were dispatched to a commercial fire at Jackson Furniture, located at 136 E Dorsett Ave. Crews arrived on scene to find sawdust on fire and were able to quickly extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported and firefighters cleared the scene at 12:55 pm. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

On May 5th 2022, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to Bicentennial Park in downtown Asheboro after an unknown suspect threw soap into the fountain causing it to overflow with bubbles. The fountain at Bicentennial Park is not the only fountain that’s been vandalized this year. (ACME NEWS)- Police say a fight between employees at the Asheboro Wendy's ended with both employees stabbing one another, triggering a lockdown at the nearby high-school and middle school. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, on May 16, 2022, at 10:22 am, officers and first responders were dispatched to a stabbing at Wendy’s, located at 623 West Dixie Drive Asheboro. According to the police department the incident started as a fight between two employees, which resulted in both employees stabbing one another. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man is in jail under a one million dollar bond after police say he stabbed a victim multiple times on Sunday. Officers with Asheboro Police Department responded to Pelican Snowballs on Sunday May 8th 2022, after a child ran into the business reporting their mother had been stabbed. Officers responded to the business as well as a residence on Washington Ave. There they located they victim, identified as Renalta Smith, who had been stabbed multiple times. Smith was transported by EMS to a local medical facility. Police say after receiving a tip they were able to located the suspect identified as Kelly Lashaun Wiley, at the Dollar General on Zoo Parkway.
